I have a young toddler who most likely will be still sleeping in the crib when the baby #2 comes. I am not sure how I will be able to take care of my toddler without lifting her during the recovery from C-section. I am willing to try toddler bed for her, but she is very active in her sleep and I am afraid that she will just fall out of the bed. Any advice?

  1. It's gonna be really hard dealing with a toddler and a newborn ..What i did was get her a toddler bed ..

  2. you could have hubby lift her in and out...or make a game out of her sleeping on a pad of blankets on the floor for a week or so. My kids are all active sleepers, and they did just fine in a toddler bed. I just put a gate in my son's bedroom door for the first month or so so he could not leave the room without calling for me

  3. I have a 15 month old and am 29.5 weeks pregnant with baby #2 who i will also be delivering by c-section, i put a matress on the floor for my daughter to start off with, i also put a bed rail up too just in case, even thought its not far to fall. She is now in a toddler bed, and although she is very active in her sleep she never wiggles down low enough past the rails to fall out. I suggest you try the mattress on the floor to begin with and see how you go, good luck.

  4. Just put a mattress on the floor or use bed rails.  Don't be afraid to ask friends and family to take your toddler ovenight for a few nights... you need a chance to recover.

  5. I brought baby 3 home when I had a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old...had c sections with each one.  It is not as hard as it seems if you are ready and willing to step right back in the mom roll.  I was vacuuming the house when I got home from the hospital.  It was not bad at all.  Just take it easy and you can do it.  As for the toddler...let them climb out of the crib once you lower the side.  Its not like they have never done it before.  It will be your toddlers chance to be a big kid and if you are enthusiastic about it then your toddler will be as well.  Good luck and you can do it!
