My dog is really picky. He seems to not like dog biscuits. I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for homemade dog biscuits. I found one on-line but the recipe included garlic and I was under the impression that garlic is bad for dogs. Can anyone help me out. My dog does like those beggin strips but I would rather not give him those.

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly oil two cookie sheets.

In a medium bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour, milk powder, beef bouillon, and salt. Add the ground pork, carrot, shortening and egg; mix in to the flour mixture while gradually adding water to form a stiff ball of dough.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters, and reroll scraps until no dough is left. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the bottoms of the cookies are browned. Allow cookies to set for a few minutes on the cookie sheet before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

    Good Luck!

  2. My dog- like most dogs- LOVES peanut butter.  Here's an EASY and CHEAP recipe for peanut butter dog treats.

    Ingredients

    2 cups whole wheat flour

    1 cup skim milk

    1 cup organic peanut butter

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    Directions

1  note to make wheat free use garbanzo flour instead of whole wheat.

2  Mix all ingredients well to make a thick dough, knead a few times. Roll out onto a floured surfaced to about 1/4-1/2 inch thickness and use cookie cutters to make shapes.

3  Place on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Let sit in oven to cool, this will make them crunchy, let cool out of oven makes them a little softer.

4  I recommend storing them in the fridge during the hot months and then in a container in the cupboard during the cooler months. Lasts up to 3 weeks.

  3. Garlic is great for dogs. They sweat the garlic out and it gets rid of fleas. My vet recommended we use garlic in his dog food to get rid of his fleas, because the spray was to strong and could kill him. But garlic is GREAT and won't harm your dog at all.
