basil h has got it right but make sure your horse stays over

3 miles or more as this is severe test of stamina. good

Pick a few different horses with these rules of thumb:

1. 9 or 10 years old

2. Not carrying more than 11 stone

3. A good record of jumping big fences, preferably at Aintree itself.

4. Not the favourite (they usually don't win).

Basically, if your horse(s) can get over all the fences they're in with a shout of winning, no matter what the starting price.
