Does anyone have a good training program for AFL?

i want to mainly build upper body,aerobic fitness & core

  1. 1 x 800 meter sprints at 60% of max pace

    2 x 400 meter sprints 70%

    3 x 200 meter sprints 80 %

    4 x 100 meter sprints 100%

    5 x 50 meter spints  100%

    Twice a week

    Push ups situps and "chinups"(if you can find somewhere) everyday

    Resistance training

    all done with 4 sets of 10 reps

    bench press

    shoulder press

    lateral raises

    tricep extension

    bicep curl

    leg raises (abs)

    squats

    calf raises


  2. Run... a lot.

    Weights... a lot.

    Jump... a lot.

    Kick.. a lot.

    Good luck. Oh - and its Aussie Football.

  3. Don't try to do anything to specialised.

    Mix in some HIIT with long distance running.  That should take care of your cardio and for weights. Go for a westside program or a Rippetoes starting strength program.

  4. you obviously do not play AFL, you would have your own programme with the club. all AFL clubs provide that.

    do you mean aussie rules footy? you can get hold of books through librarys and even on the net for that info, just dont say you play AFL, that has to be earned mate, one day you might play AFL and you will understand.
