Does anyone have a list of high street stores that still accept payment by cheque?

Hi there, can anyone give me a list of high street stores that are still acceping payment by cheque?

Also can you answer me if these accept cheques?

Argos?

Toys R Us?

Homebase?

PC World?

If you have a cheque book with a bankers card you should be able to pay with just your card and not have to write out a cheque.I dont really understand where your coming from

I thought they all excepted cheques, so long as you have your bank card as well, cos they take details off it like exp date and card no. etc?

if you have a check card with your check book all but argos in your list take it

the reason many no longer accept cheques is because even with a bank card it is still possible for a customer to stop the cheque. The bank can and often does bounce the cheque usually with the excuse that the signature was 3 microns of ink different on a curve of one of its characters.

It is also almost impossible for a retailer to check whether the cheque book was stolen or has altered/fake cheque numbers.

If you find a retailer dumb enough to take a cheque just ring up the bank and stop it a few days later. Unless they know where you live there is sod all they can do. (the banks never give the retailer your address)
