Does anyone have a method for making oil of oregano?

Essential oils cannot be made at home.  As an example, Oil of Rose takes 600 pounds of rose petals to produce 1oz of essential oil of rose.  This is not something that one would attempt to make at home, as I've said, simply based upon the volume of plant material needed, and the technology needed to make different types of essential oils.  You can make infused oils or medicinal oils, and the way to do that has already been posted here.  You want to make sure the herbal material is constantly covered by oil or the whole thing can mold.  When making herbal oils or vinegars, it is not always necessary to take the herbs out.  When I make basil and garlic olive oil, I leave the basil and garlic in, as well as a few peppercorns.

Yes take some olive oil and put it in a mason jar and put as much fresh oregano you can in it and then keep in the dark.  After a week you can check and if you don't like the strength you can take oregano out and replace with more fresh stuff until desired strength.

If it is for eating, yes you can put it in olive oil.  If it is for medicinal purpuses the essential oils are concentrated, made by steam extraction. they come in gelcaps so you can consume the oil without eye watering burning mouth throat pain, you would have to eat pounds of herb to get the amount of essence in one pill.
