Does anyone have a problem with the Pacquio vs De La Hoya matchup?

Oscar fought at 160lbs against Felix Sturm & Manny's heavy's weight was 134 1/2 against David Diaz. That's 25 1/2 lb difference. This is the reason I don't like Oscar he could have fought Margaritto who is 147lbs & could put more weight on his 5'11" frame, or Paul Williams who is also 147 but is 6'1", or a 3rd matchup with Shane Mosley who is obviously 154lbs or more. Or if he wants us to believe he is one of the greatest of this era he would have took on 34-0, 6'2" 160lbs Kelly the ghost Pavlik. What's your opinion of Oscar's next & possibly last fight?

I have a major problem with it.  Oscar is way too big for manny.  The difference will be easily noticeable when they step into the ring.

I agree with what you're saying about the weight and about him rather fighting Margarito. But you have to understand that Freddie Roach is the one calling Oscar out. So Oscar can either do this. Fight Margarito who also called him out and have a good pay day, or fight Manny. Beating Margarito would be great. But beating Manny would be even greater. Since he's the pride and joy of the Phillipines and one of the greatest fighters of our era. Not to mention the 60 or 63% of the $100 million dollars that this fight will gross. I honestly believe that Manny is over his head on this one. And I love them both as fighters. But I see Oscar taking it for the simple fact that he's twice his size.

It is a circus act that I surely won't be paying to see. I used to have a lot of respect for Oscar, but him fighting a natural light weight is ridiculous.

P.S. The Ghost and Tornado would have both knocked Oscar out.

Big E I could not agree with you more.

This is the way I look at it:  Oscar wants a win and he wants a big name- something he can't get in 2 weight classes either side of him, so he chooses to fight somebody that is 3 weight classes lower than he is!

DLH should be ashamed for even thinking about fighting Pac.  He should be a man and fight somebody his own size.

This is a cowardly way for DLH to win his last fight.

Oscar is being kind of wimpy if you ask me.  Rather than taking on a real welterweight like Margarito or Paul Williams he is picking one small fighter.  If you look at them next to each other the size difference is huge.  Pac is just doing it for the huge payday.

I absolutely have a problem with this match for the exact same reason you mentioned the weight differential is disparaging . I also would have loved to see Margarito go at it with him .

Look, Oscar never quite lived up to a Sugar Ray Leonard status, but was close. He is still a legend, and good for the sport. But the reason I do not have a problem with this fight is because its good for the sport. It will be a huge event with much buzz. It also shows that Oscar has always fought the best. Trinidad, Pac Man, Hopkins, Mosley, Quartey etc... How can anyone have a problem with this?

Margarito would knock the c**p out of Oscar de la Hoya, that is why he did not fight him. Was he scared? I dont think so, he just reasoned it out, if he fought margarito he would have gone out with a loss at the end of his career, and possibly have problems for a while from the brutal body beating he would undoubtly receive. As for fighting Pac Man, I think it's ridicoulus. Any boxing fan knows the MASSIVE difference in just 5 pounds, let alone 20! I still think Pac Man will win, maybe even by knock out.

will they fight at 140? if it's 140 pacquiao has the edge. but at heavier divisions, dela hoya has the advantage.

I think it's not Oscar's fault, it's Manny's.  He agreed to it.  It's not an obligation you know. If you don't want to move up in weight class, just say no and let Oscar find another opponent.  But Manny just said, Oh, I will fight De La Hoya and get lot's of money.

A few years ago someone called him Chicken De La Hoya.  I couldn't agree more.  Pacquaio? Shoot! Who else was on his short, pun not intended, list? The other midget Hatton? Naseem Hamed? I'd rather see him fight Mia St John or even The coal Miner's Daughter Christy Martin! At least that would be more entertaining.
