My horse died, and I don't want him to go to waste. Does anyone know a good recipe/what type of meat I can substitute horse meat for?

  1. Horse meat is commonly consumed in countries outside the US so I can't judge you for wanting to eat horse meat. However, depending on why the horse died, I might not recommend you eat it.

  2. about 2 pounds of horse meat

coat in flour and salt and pepper,

heat skillet with oil...take a piece of bread

to make sure oil is hot.....

place horse meat in oil and brown...

go to Von's and get some pre- cut stew vegetables around 2 lbs

place in stewing pot.....for the lazy cook....get 1/2 gallon of

pre-made gravy place horse meat in stewing pot cover with

brown gravy...cook for 11/2 hours then add veg tables to

pot for last 1 hour of cooking....UN-cover the last 30 minutes

also get a bag of minute rice and cook according to package

instructions, place on platter cover with your horse stew and

    enjoy.......

  3. so funny i forgot to laugh.

  4. Depending on what your horse died from, the meat may not be safe to eat. Rags to Riches is right on this one- there are many diseases that are transmitted by consuming meat from infected animals. I would contact your vet and the local public health department before I ate any of the animal, to make sure that you are not going to contract something like anthrax from eating the meat. Oh, and by the way, if your horse was euthanized, then there is NO WAY you can eat any meat- the drugs used to do this are POISONOUS to people. That's why euthanized horses are NOT used for food for either people or pets. Federal law prohibits this, for safety reasons.  Do your homework and check this out before you do it- you just might decide that it's better to give your poor horse a decent burial, instead of having him for dinner.

Horse meat is usually substituted for beef, assuming the meat is safe to eat.  Hope this answers your question.

  5. come by my place, I'll substitute you for the horse meat, unfortunately you probably won't be able to jot down the recipe though.  Seriously come by, I'll make sure you're reunited with your horse, I'll even let you decide your end.

  6. Its not funny, his horse died, i feel really bad for him. its better then just burying it at least.
