If so, have you had it long enough to determine if it helps with your electric bill, and what brand, size or make did you find and is it satisfactory for your small farm needs?

  1. I don't have a wind mill, but I am pretty good with the environment and math. There is a company that makes pretty good compact wind mills. One wind mill can power 5 TVs and 1 refrigerator. I forgot the company's name but I will tell you how the wind mill looks like:

    -Doesn't have a propeller

    -Kind of like a filter

  2. yep, built it myself, used a 200 amp automotive alternator, goes into a battery pack, lead acid, and then a transducer/diode to a transformer-no biggie, I use it off grid, to operate some lighting, and other light duty...it is in a place that electricity is not commercially available, and it works well, however, if I could get line service, I would in an instant...good question, probably not what you wanted...here is the problem, the technology of small wind generators, is not that efficient, and the wind is not that predictable...contrary to what you have heard, especially from the greenie leftist tree huggers, wind power is not that great, it is just better than nothing...have fun with your research....

  3. northern hydraulics has a 400 watt 27 amps

the 400 watt sells for about 599.00

    item # 339981-1806

    tower mnt available

    phone# 1-800-533-5545

  4. Wind turbines are not always allowed in many communities.

so you might want to check with your local planning commission.

This site has a long list of wind turbines that work in lower wind area as will as high winds, than the propeller types do.

many of them are very beautiful, and if you click on each one, you go to their page, and you can get more information about each.
