Does anyone have a schedule for a 2 month old?

I am wondering if anyone's 2 month is on a consistent bed time sleep and nap schedule? What time do you put your baby to bed and does your baby wake up in the middle of the night for a feeding? If not, how do you get your baby to sleep through the night. My 2 month old still wakes up between 2 and 3 for a bottle (I put her to bed around 10:00 after a 4-6 ounce feeding).

  1. From what I understand, babies normally sleep randomly for between 12 and 16 hours a day.

They then settle into a sleep about 10-12 hours long when they are about 2 years old.

I read this a long long time ago though, so I am not sure.

  2. This is what I did. I nursed my daughter for 5 months. The only schedule I was able to have when she was that young was her bath time. After her bath she always got a bottle and then tried to rock her to sleep. Now that she is 7 months old she is on a schedule like clock work! Just give her at least 1 consistency, then build on that. At 2 months they still need the night time feedings for survival. It gets better. I PROMISE!

  3. This is my favorite question because I was dead set on getting my baby on a schedule ASAP and I sure did try really hard until I realized that it just doesn't happen with a new born. Everyone told me that babies generally will se their own routines between 4 and 6 months. They promised that if I was patient and paid attention, I'd see it.

The best advice I can give you is to work towards a routine. You can't schedule a new born but you can give them a basic foundation for one that will help later on. For instance, if every time your baby wakes up, you immediately change her diaper then feed her and then play with her and just repeat this through out the day, you are basically setting up a routine that is set by her. You are letting her sleep when she wants and wake when she wants but you are setting up some consistency by always doing the same things in the same order between naps. Eventually the time that you have her awake will get longer and you'll have a nice easy routine. This is the best way because it's basically going by what the baby needs and YOU can find time for YOU with in that. IT's not directed by a clock , but baby's needs.

Just as promised, my baby has a very predictable routine which started at about 3.5 months. She didn't start sleeping through the night until 4 months. Most babies will continue to wake up about 6 months at which time their tummies are big enough to keep them full.  Don't worry if she wakes for feedings .  The time will come when she's capable of sleeping longer.

i hope this helps! Email if you have questions! :)

    Congrats!

  4. Actually my baby has me on a schedule she's down for bed at 11pm every night wakes up at 5am-6am. 1st nap at 9am-12pm give or take an hr. then 2nd nap at 3pm-7pm give or take an hr. I haven't done anything special to make her sleep through the night she just does.

  5. Schedules are linked to failure to thrive for baby, breastfeeding failure for mum. What sort of schedule would you like, exactly?

And why should a two-month-old sleep through the night? It is not normal nor healthy for them to do so.

"Recent research suggests that longer stretches of deep sleep are associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and babies who sleep longer/deeper may be more vulnerable to SIDS (see in particular the research of James McKenna, PhD). Some scientists are saying that it appears that long sleep stretches are not "natural" for human infants and that sleep interruptions in the early months may provide a protective factor against SIDS. More research is needed on this subject, but parents might want to think twice about significantly manipulating baby's natural sleep pattern in the early months."

  6. What do you mean by your baby *still* wakes up for a bottle?  At 2 months, your baby SHOULD still be waking up to eat.

Follow baby's lead on a schedule or else you risk running into a myriad of problems regarding weight gain, your baby's health, and your sanity.

Also, the Babywise book that someone referred to is not a good book.  It has been linked with failure to thrive, breastfeeding problems for mom & baby, and the author has no child development credentials at all whatsoever.  It's c**p and no medical professionals recommend it.  Google it and you'll see all the negativity surrounding the book.

  7. My best recommndation for you would be to go out to your local bookstore and buy the book BABY WISE. It tells you all about schedules, feeding times, and much much more!!!

    Good Luck!

  8. i have a 3 month old and i try to get her to bed between 9 and 10 and she sleeps to about 7am she stays up for a few hours then takes another nap and then cat naps the rest of the day. ilet her do her own thing and she put herself on her on schedule and i like it very much sometimes babiesare going to sleep when they want to just go with the flow until he or she is a litle older.

  9. the only 2 month old baby schedule known to man is that baby's own personal schedule!  Let ur baby girl let u know when she is hungry or sleepy. and dont worry she will not be sleeping thru the night for a few more months and that is if ur lucky. just have patience and enjoy it because before u know it u will be wondering what happened to ur precious litte one who used to adore u. cherish ea and every moment with ur newborn and fret not cuz the fun has just begun. God bless u and good luck.
