Does anyone have a good cake frosting recipe? I don't have much in the way of ingredients so I was hoping someone might have an easy recipe with things I'd have. I have cream cheese, I have butter, I have vanilla, I have confectioners sugar, and I have vanilla (among other things but I don't know if they would be relevant so feel free to recommend any recipes you can think that are easy with basic ingredients most people would have on hand). I also have milk. I have no cream at all. I would like just a basic frosting recipe, nothing fancy, and really just cream cheese or vanilla flavored, whatever, no chocolate or fruit flavors since I'm running low on stuff in my kitchen. This is probably too hard and I probably need cream or something, but if you can give me a tasty cake frosting with common ingredients, you'll be saving me a trip to the grocery store. Thanks. :)

  5. This is about as simple as they get...

    **Cream Cheese Frosting***

    INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened

    1/2 cup butter, softened

    2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    DIRECTIONS

In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Mix in the vanilla, then gradually stir in the confectioners' sugar. Store in the refrigerator after use.

  6. Buttercream Frosting:

    1/4 cup butter (softened)

    3 cups siftened powdered sugar

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    3 to 4 tbs milk

In bowel, cream butter until smooth add rest of ingrediants (only 3 tbs milk) beat until creamy and thick enough to spread. May be necessary to add more milk or pwdered suagr to get right consistency.

1 (8 oz) pckg cream cheese

  7. Cream about 1/2 cup of butter.  Add 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 tsp of vanilla.  Then slowly beat in confectioner's sugar until you have a smooth, stiff frosting.  If it's too stiff add a little more milk.

If you want a cream cheese frosting, beat the cream cheese until it's smooth and then mix it in.  That's about as simple as frosting gets.

  8. If you're not in the mood for cream cheese frosting...and I know that cream cheese frosting doesn't always go with everything. This is a little on the sweet side but if you really want vanilla, add more extract. Just make sure it's pure extract and not imitation or you'll get a funky alcohol taste in the frosting. Good luck!

    Confectioner's Sugar Frosting

1 stick unsalted butter at room temp, cut into small pieces

4 cups confectioner's sugar plus 1/2 cup if necessary, sifted after measuring

1/4 cup milk at room temp

    1 tsp vanilla extract

In a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium high speed, beat butter until creamy. Add 1 cup confectioner's sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy, scraping down the bowl once or twice. Add 1 more cup of sugar and about half the milk and beat until smooth and creamy. Add 1 more cup of sugar and remaining milk and beat well, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Add remaining 1 cup of sugar and vanilla extract and beat on high speed until very light and creamy. Assess texture and if it is too soft, add a portion or all of the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
