well i was playing madden 09 for a couple of hours maybe like 4-6. and i decided to play a game with my friend. then when it was about to start then it froze.

here are the other problems:

it freezes every time i am about to play a game of madden

it makes a sound like a vibrating phone on a desk when i tilt up to play the system while it is standing up.

and when i took the madden disk out there was a huge circle scratch around the madden disk. i know it was caused by the 360 because i never took it out.

  1. Easy one, Ring of Death. Since you tilted it upwards while you were playing it, the laser inside must've touched the disc and burned a ring into it. The disc is dead.

  2. i think you're not suppose to move the console AT ALL when it's playing a game.  it'll eat your discs.

  3. My 360 broke my Vegas 2 game, it scratched it so badly i couldnt progress a level on the game.

  4. You said yourself that you never took the disc out when moving your Xbox to the upright position, and that's a common cause of the infamous circular scratch. It's worth mentioning that the console does not need to be powered on for this to happen; merely moving the console from the horizontal to the vertical position with the disc in can be enough for the scratching to occur next time you power the machine on.

To summarise, never move the console from one position to the other with the power switched on or with a disc inside. Microsoft themselves make this clear in the Xbox 360 setup manual, saying that...

To avoid jamming the DVD drive and damaging discs or the Xbox 360 console:

Remove discs before moving the console or tilting it between the horizontal and vertical positions.

It might also be worth mentioning that some people seem to have had problems such as excessive vibration noise and scratched discs simply by running the console in the vertical position. I personally have always had mine horizontal and it's never given me and trouble at all, so maybe you could try running it horizontally and see if this makes a difference.

  5. now when you say  " i tilt up to play the system while it is standing up"

what exactly do you mean by that?
