Iam trying to find out the parents of Benjamin M. Faulkner who was born about 1885 in Alabama and died in 1940 in Dekalb CO.AL.He married Sallie Decker.

In the 1910 census he is listed as Benny Faulkner and living in Blount CO,AL.

In 1940 he was living in Dekalb Co,AL.

In 1905 he was living in Blount Co,AL

Iam thinking that in the 1900 blount co,census that he might be listed but I don't have access to it.I have seen the records for many other counties in AL for that year,but I can't find the blount Co,census to see if he is listed.

I have emailed people who have him listed on their family trees but they have no record of who his parents were.

His death record is available online I think but Iam not able to view it and I don't know if that lists his parent's names.

    Still looking for him in the 1900 Census...

    edit -

    Could this be his WWI draft registration record?

    World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918

    about Benjamin Marion Falkner

    Name: Benjamin Marion Falkner

    City: Not Stated

    County: De Kalb

    State: Alabama

    Birth Date: 30 Mar 1885

    Race: White

    Roll: 1509379

    DraftBoard: 0

    [permanent home address:  3 Crossville, De Kalb, Alabama;

    date of birth:  March 30, 1885;

    present occupation:  farmer;

    nearest relative:  Sallie Falkner, 3 Crossville, De Kalb, Alabama;

    date of registration:  9/12/1918;

    height: tall;

    build:  medium;

    eyes:  blue;

    hair:  dark;

    his name was spelled Falkner all the way through the registration card, including the signature]

    The Falkner spelling gave me a possible 1900 Census record of a Benjamin Falkner in Big Hickory, Hall, Georgia...  but he was born in August 1883 so I don't believe that's the right Ben Falkner.

    I went a few more pages, and found an interesting record for that census:

    1900 United States Federal Census

    about Benie M Folkner

    Name: Benie M Folkner

    Home in 1900: Aurora, Etowah, Alabama

    Age: 15

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1885

    Birthplace: Alabama

    Relationship to head-of-house: Servant

    Race: White

    Household Members: Name Age

    Henry R Dobbs 55  (married to Sarah for 34 years;  Henry and his parents were all born in Georgia; Henry was a Farmer and was renting the home where they lived in 1900, which was on a farm)

    Sarah A Dobbs 57  (married 34 years;  had given birth to 4 children, 2 of whom were still living; born in Alabama;  her folks were both born in South Carolina)

    Benie M Folkner 15 (he had attended school 1 month;  he had been employed 3 months;  he was working as a Farm Laborer;  he was born in Alabama;  there is a squiggly line across the blanks where his father's and mother's birthplaces should go - - there was no attempt to write anything in those blanks at all)

    I'm so sorry about the last record, but hope this helps...

  4. I looked in the census of 1900, Alabama, All Counties and could not find him.

    I also looked for a WWI draft registration card on him and I couldn't find one of those either.

    I did find his Alabama Death certificate but it only gave the basic info.  You have to order the original to get all the details.

    He died 1/9/1940.

    I have found that death certificates in the 1940's give a huge amount of information including parents names, mother's maiden name, etc.  It might be worth your efforts to order a copy of the original.

    Sorry I couldn't find more.
