Does anyone have an EASY but EFFECTIVE way to clean couch cushions?

Question

A friend of mine went out of town and the person who stayed at his place to keep it in order and his possessions safe turned out to be pig!

He dirtied every last plate, cup, and piece of silverware!

He laid on the couch for THREE WEEKS and I doubt he took one shower while he was there and it also smells of urine, BAD! We took the covers off and washed them, it took TWO washings to get the smell out of them. Now we are trying to find or figure out a way to clean the cushions that is easy, and effective. They smell like BO and urine.

PLEASE HELP!! HELP!!HELP!!

  You can sprinkle the cushions generrously with baking soda!  Let it sit overnight and then give the sofa a really good vacuuming with a wet/dry shopvac.... If you can check the cushion covers for zippers if they come off you are in luck and can wash the cushion covers... If NOT then I would suggest a spray cleaner like RESOLVE for materials that can't go in the washer!   Or even having a professional come and give the furniture a good steam cleaning!  Then send the "friend" the bill!    You can also rent a carpet cleaner with furniture attachments and clean it as well....

we feel your agony.  if they haven't come clean with two washings, try leaving them out in the sun for a while and see if that helps.  there are foams upholstery cleaners that are pretty good.

I would look for a place to rent a carpet cleaning machine.  Like you local WalMart or grocery store.  The machines they have come w/attachments and instructions for use on furniture.  I would do it on a dry warm day so that the furniture can sit outside (if possible) and dry throroughly.  These stores also have the cleaning solutions and mixing instructions.

The cushions can't be cleaned. The urine is in the foam.  Throw them out and buy a new couch. Having new cushions made will cost as much as a new couch.
