  1. Make a sandbox with a mirror to represent the pool, then use dolls to tell the story. Or a flannel board with paper figures with velcro on their backs.

Clay, puzzles, pasting. Make some playdough in bright colors. Cut bright colors out of const paper and give them a sheet to paste them on.

  2. Go to the blog below and scroll down to 'Time-tested backyard games get kids moving!'

  3. After telling the story have the children act it out.  Bring a blue blanket to represent the pool, and many of the preschoolers can be the cripples lying near the pool.  Maybe towels or mats for the cripples to lay on. One child (or a team) can be Jesus.  Count on acting this out several times as they will all want to be the cripple that is healed or Jesus!

Children this age are so fun! They love to be active.

  4. Try a song. Make up one about the story and teach it to the children.  Keep the words and tune simple and short.

If you are using an illustration board, you can ask the children questions about the story and give out a treat for correct answers.

Have them memorize a short verse from the story.  Children that age have memories like a steel trap and if you teach them now, they will remember it for the rest of their life.

  5. just let them run around and scream their heads off

  6. At Michael's craft store (probably others too) you can purchase foam shapes in packages.  They carry religious ones as we use them in our preschool Sunday school classes.  My son is 4 and instead of coloring all the coloring sheet, they glue pieces down as well.  For instance, when olive branches was a part of the story, we glued little pieces of sticks to the paper.  I have many sheets on my refrigerator right now with different items glued down, even use cotton balls for clouds.  Anything to make the pages three dimensional and a little more fun.

  7. Instead of coloring pictures of Jesus, why not make puppet's. It gets the kids a little more involved. I understand that 3,4, and 5 year olds aren't very good with using scissors, so why don't you cut what needs cut out previously, in different colors, and use yarn, and stickers or what ever you can find and then let the children put them together and choose the colors, yarn, and stickers they want to use for their puppet. (or to make simpler, make it a Jesus cut out put together by the kids glued to a pop sickle stick that they can move around)

    God Bless

  10. Kids at that age need *movement*, not just sit-down activities.  Their brains are developing motor skills, so let them do things like a standing longjump contest, and you measure each child's jump.  Afterwards, let them each cut out ribbons out of blue and yellow paper (tape or paste them together) so everyone has something to take home.

Make a mini-olympics with as many physical-type activities as you can.  This will keep the kids active in a constructive way and they will be able to concentrate better when they have sit-down activities.

  11. Hey there I taught sunday school before and I am now a teacher. I have taught pre-k and kindergarten for 4 years. The kids are getting bored because they know what to expect every time them go, so they are already not interested before they get to the class. How long do you work with them? You need some circle time where you read a book or sing a song, then do an actvity that goes along with the story. Sock puppets are a nice touch. Get some old socks of different color and make seperate clothes for the characters you are teaching the kids about. Afterward, let the kids play with them! They will like that.

  12. let them make puppets and let them perform a puppet show

  13. I was thinking of a foamie craft.

I know foamies are really popular right now.

If you have a dollar tree in your area they are carrying alot of foamie crafts and foamie items.

Also, Michael's craft store had some nice sales this summer on foamie crafts and items that perhaps you could relate to this topic they are pretty inexpensive.

My daughter is 3 almost 4 years old in a couple weeks and she has loved doing alot of the foamie crafts and kits we have done this summer.

    Hope this helps!

  14. MY children love when they get to collage they have made really cute crosses with tissue paper depending on time they can also paint water colors make easy clean up. my son also liked when they did circle time they read books, sang songs and danced.
