I was wondering if anyone had any good soccer tips? I'm trying out for the freshman highschool team & I'm great at getting height and lenght - I know that - I just need to practice more on getting the ball away from the other team. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks

xx.

  1. the best way is get a friend and play one on one with them.

does two things for you.   trying to take the ball away and keep the ball away from them.

  2. First

    Its called football :D

    Second

Keep your eye on the ball at all time

    Third

    Develop your reflexes

  3. i know it sounds like something for beginners but I found when i was younger that the best thing to do is practice juggling the ball (or keepy uppy as some ppl call it) ALOT. you need to get a feel for the ball and understand the dynamics of it. If you cant already, you should be able to juggle the ball continuously alternating between feet without letting the ball go above your knee height.

Maradona had a perfect touch cuz he spent hours upon hours practicing his touch by juggling the ball then extending that to tricks and flicks and so on even when he was at his peak. its all about awareness, reflexes and first touch, and for a good first touch being able to juggle is a must

basically getting the ball off your opponents is all about positioning. your positioning and that of your team mates around you. while defending you should always have 2 defenders ready to deal with an attacker. one goes in and marks the man/tries to win the ball, the second hangs a meter or two back in case the first man is beat. also try and drive them towards the touchline as this limits the passing options they have.

other than that, just practice practice practice. always try to have a ball at your feet, whether walking through the house or running the dog. soon dribbling will become second nature to you.

hope this helps and good luck

  4. umm.. make sure you can run. any coach would rather have someone on the field who can keep up than someone who's going to have to be subbed in 10 minutes... just kick a ball around, walk around with it, jog, do everything with a ball.  Allows you to be more comfortbale and can give you a better touch on the ball.  Finally.. somethign you always wana keep in mind in terms of like defense is like when your one on one with someone.. never face them straight on.. always stay at an angle so that you control more of the way they move.  but like the other person said.. best way to get better is  just playing soccer

  5. ummmmm just really try hard dont walk just give it ur best shot but if u wont to get ready for it here r some tips
