My nephew wants to go gamble. He's 25 and I'm 51. We want to gamble not see the sights. We have gambled before but by no means are we "gamblers". We want to play blackjack at tables with low minimum bets and 1-2 deck shoes. We want to play roulette and 3 card poker too. By the way, it will be my first time flying also. What are the best places for a couple of guys like us? Thanks

  1. The best odds are generally in the downtown area, or off the strip. The Rio has some nice play.

Wherever you play, be sure to check the rules first, especially in blackjack. Some rules are unfavorable to the player, such as the dealer hitting soft 17, and at some tables a player blackjack only pays 6-5 instead of 3-2.

Use a money management system and stick to it!

And check out the players clubs at any casino or group of casionos, these cards can you FREE comps based on your play.  Many cards are honored at mulitple locations such as the MGM Players Club card, or the Harrahs Total Rewards card.

And here is a link to show you how to get more and better comps from the casinos, especially if you are playing blackjack.

And check out the Blackjack Betting Trigger, a great way to increase your winning hand percentage at blackjack on multideck games without have to count cards!

  2. HARD ROCK!

    EXCALIBUR!

    CIRCUS CIRCUS!

    NEW YORK!

    MGM GRAND!

    WET AND WILD!

  3. I went for the first time last October.  We didn't go to Gamble, But I can tell you what I saw.  All hotels have gambling.  On the strip is more expensive to stay than off the strip.  You can ride the bus, which is very slow.  You can almost walk and get there faster because of all the stops it makes.  It would be easier to rent a car.  Foodwise, it is cheaper off the strip.  We stayed on the strip and were very happy with the Monte Carlo hotel.  I walked through many and I didn't like New York New York.  It was not my style.  It was more busy, had bars in there with bouncers too many people drunk and staggering around all throughout.  It was obviously popular as many were there.  If you walk around on the strip, there will be many soliciters that try to get you to go to "girley"  bars.  They are annoying.

If you are looking for hotels, try to read the comments of the hotel before you go.  Each hotel has many different options.  You should see some of the sights as it is your first time there.  You will have plenty of time to Gamble too.  You will need a break.  The hotels are usually dark so you can't see outside what time it is and spend more time gambling while you are there.  If you do go and see some sights, I recommend: Mystere by Cirque Du Soleil.  It is great and I would see it again.  It is impossible to see everything the first time you go.  If you do go, go a little early as there is entertainment while everyone is being seated.

I hope you have fun and you win a little something.

  4. A fun strategy I like to use in roulette is bringing with you 35 minimum inside bets (so if the minimum us $5 bring $175 if it's $10 bring $350) and bet on one number with the minimum bet every roll. This way with any luck at all you will hit your number in the first 34 rolls (which would put you ahead). I like to do this because it stretches out your gambling time and if you get hot you can put your original money back in your "keep it" pocket plus $20 so you can gamble with the house's money and no matter what you'll feel good because you'll walk away with what you came with plus $20.

  5. dont go alone

    cp

  6. When you check into the hotel, one of the first things you'll want to do is go check everything out. Sure, its perfectly fine to wander around and etc. Just be careful and try to avoid the casinos being the first thing you go out and see. Limit yourself with how much money you'll be taking each night out on the strip. So, that eventually you won't blow all your money on a half hour of craps.

    Good Luck!

  7. Since it is your first time flying, make sure you drink plenty of water so you do not get dehydrated on the plane.

Southwest Airlines may have some decent package deals with hotels.  Check out their website.  Excalibur may be the hotel for you and your nephew since it has some of the best rates for a large hotel ($50 or less on a weekday).

Practice playing the games you intend to play in Las Vegas on the internet so you know what to look for and how much money you want to gamble.  Keep track of your theoretical wins and loses to see if you enjoy the games.

  8. Go to Harrah's Casino, its awesome

  9. For starters, as im sure your aware, dont expect to actually walk away with money, it could happen but  its probibly only gogin to happen around 35% of the time in your case im guestimating, therefore you best plan of action is to milk up as much free stuff as you can whil you lose money, ask the pit people to comp you stuff when you are done playing, tickets food whatever, your gogin to buy food while you there so every free meal you get is money back in your wallet.

Playing roullette and three card poker will not be for the better, the hosue edge is ten times that of blackjack so on average you will lose your money ten times as fast playign those games, "scarry huh?"  Play only blackjack at the minimum bet with proper playing strategy you can learn basic playing stategy here http://www.hitorstand.net and if you dont have it memorise buy a basic strategy card at a gift shop, they look liek buisness cards and fit into your wallet.

Also while in vegas the dealler hittign soft 17 is commonplace, and the one difference to that rule is that when you have a soft 19 vs dealer 6 the correct play is to double, not to hit as the card will say since it is likely for the  formerly traditional game where the dealer stands on soft 17. all otherplays are the same though.

also make sure the table allows doubling after splitting since most bs charts are in refference to that rule, and it is very beneficial to the player

and lastly under no circumstances play blackjack games where blackjack pay 6:5 it will say so on the felt, you shoudl tell the peopel playing them that they are fools for doing so.

  10. bring a lot of cash and damble too much

  11. Try Casino Royale, they cater to low rollers.  Lower minimums than any of the others that I have seen on the strip.  Its next to the Venetian and across from the Mirage.  Also more of a less sophisticated crowd of course...  Good luck, Vegas is a blast.
