I live in the Pocono Mountains and am getting married in April of 2009. I am looking for ideas of cheap but fun/cool/interesting honeymoons. We live in a "honeymoon" capital so obviously don't want to suggestions to stay here. We are looking for something different. He loves the outdoors - hunting, fishing and such. I love the outside activities too but also shopping and relaxing. Any help will be appreciated.

  1. We honeymooned in Panama City Beach (and have returned many times since).  The beaches are beautiful white sand and would be a big change from mountains.  If you're getting married later in April, you would miss the spring break crowds.  Many places have lower prices between spring break and summer as well.  For inexpensive lodging try an off beach condo or motel or even camping.

There are tons of things to do there as well.  For outdoors...swimming, jet skis, parasailing, beach combing, fishing, a water park, Gulf World Marine Park, golf, camping, boogie boards or surfing, mini golf and more.  Pier park is a brand new outdoor mall which is really nice.  They also have a new theater there...my kids liked that the seats recline.  There are lots of dining choices too...try Pineapple Willy's for casual dining on the beach or Casa De Fogo for a special meal.

Best wishes for a long marriage!

  2. Check out  South Carolina (Hilton Head Island-beach style), Charleston S.C. is also nice.  Gatlinburg, Tennessee (Mountains, Outdoorsy stuff), These places are beautiful and very fun and relaxing at the same time.  Quebec (though French-speaking) and Halifax have some really nice spots too.

  3. You get great value for the money with a cruise.  My daughter and her husband just returned from a honeymoon cruise to Mexico.  Consider registering for you honeymoon so your guests can buy things for you to do on your honeymoon.  It's similar to registering for dishes at a department store.  Learn more at http://www.sandiego-romantics.com/honeym...

  4. You can go camping just about anywhere.  Just pick a spot to suit your shopping and outdoor needs.

  5. You should get some information about Fiji before you book. It is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen and the Fiji Islands knocks off of those other cookie cutter resorts and is more affordable. Plus there are lots of outdoor activities.
