I'm a junior in high school and I want to start looking at colleges.

I think I want to major in english, journalism, history, or business. Does anyone have any suggestions of good colleges that I could visit or apply to? I have a 3.7 right now and I'm very involved in my community. I just don't really know where to start looking. Please help with any suggestions. Thanks: )

  1. first of all, you should have this conversation with your parents and your HS guidance counselor. your GC should help you make you class schedules that will challenge you (if your school allows this). take a look at area community colleges to see if they'll let you take a class here and there or at least audit a class (sit in on it and not pay). talk with professionals in the industries you listed and see if you can job shadow them or at least interview them. what do they like, what do they not like, etc?

your GC will know of schools that have strong programs for what you're interested in. talk with your parents and let them know what you're interested in and see if you can visit the schools. some colleges have programs where you can stay overnight and go to classes with your host student.

you have plenty of time to figure out what you'd like to do and what colleges you'd like to apply to. start the dialog now with your teachers, GC and parents. good luck!
