Severe Tropical Cyclone Larry (one of the biggest ever to hit Australia) crossed the tropical north Queensland coast near Innisfail and Cairns during the morning of Monday 20 March 2006 - I went through it, and wasn't nice.   3. I would check out www.bom.gov.au - its basically the whether website for Australia.  Most news service get information straight off here - its all quite accurate.  There are also some radar images too.
