  1. the easiest thing i have found is to work out your calves.

and you can do this if you have one of those exercise stepping boxes, or just on your stairs. you can hold on to something and just have part of your foot on the stairs with the rest hanging off in back, and you start off as if you were still standing on the ground, and you just push up with your foot.

in technicality, you don't need the stairs and you can actually do this on the ground, the stairs just helps you build the form for it and gets you a feel of exactly what you're doing.

so when you get used to it, you can just consistently do it during commercials while you watch TV.

  2. it depends where u live but u can do plyos...look it up... but u can do wall sits and bends

put ur back to the wall and act like u r sitting on a chair or...

put ur top area of ur foot on a bench and raise up slowly...calf raises

  3. Get a box (or stack some stuff) about 18-24 inches tall.  Jump over the box from a standstill/one-step position, then turn and immediately jump back.  Do as fast as you can.  Repeat until you have done 10 reps.  Do about 3 sets mixed with jogging, lifting weights.

Another exercise is jump up and touch backboard/ceiling from 2 feet - 10 reps.  Then off left foot - 10 reps.  Then off right foot - 10 reps.  This works on quick burst, needed for jumping high.

  4. JOG BACKWARDS....SOUNDS DUMB BUT IT WORKS....HURTS LIKE h**l TOO.

  5. you just need to work up your thigh and calf muscles...you can just do simple squats and lunges!

  6. try ankle weights, then mark a spot on the wall, jump and touch the spot, do about 20 jumps. Then after u get use to it and take off the weights, it will seem a whole lot easier to jump higher. its  a technique that our volleyball coach makes us do, its pretty cool.

  7. try trampolines

  8. i play volleyball and i do alot of exercises to build my leg muscles.

    STRETCHES

1)pretty lady:sit down and put your right leg over your left. your leg sould be bent and your foot to the left of your left knee so it makes a triangle with your right leg. turn your body to the right (away from your legs) and put your elbow on the right side of your right leg and "push away" with it. hold. switch.

2)heel and toe:put your right heel on top of your left toes and stretch towards them. switch.

    EXERCISES

    1) squats:squat like your sitting on a chair and slowly move up and down.

2)lunges:step forward and bend your front leg and stretch your back leg. hold. step forward and switch legs.

3)tip-toe standing:stand on a flat edge and stretch your body up like your going to jump but stay on the edge. go back down and repeat.

4)jump stop: if in a gym, go to serving line and run. before you get to the net (half court if no net) stop and jump straight up with your hands over your head like your blocking. then shuffle sideways and stop and jump again. then back pannel to the serving line, shuffle to your starting point, and do it again.

5)high jump:run across the gym, and every 3 or 4 steps jump up like your blocking (you dont need the net)

6)long jump:same as high jump except you jump a long distance.

i hoped this helps. they worked great for me so good luck.

  9. stand near a wall and do bunny hops(hops on your toes). mark how high you jump and do about 20-50 a day. you should see by a week how much higher you jump

  10. On your question about jumping higher. I've learned that if you do some explosive jumping and working out with your legs helps. I did squats,  at least 3 sets of 15. Do what you can lift. Than do the  explosive jumping. Plus you get to get your legs in shape.

  11. Try a Plyometrics Workout Routine, such as P90X's plyometrics training.

It is basically a jumping cardio workout. It's main goal is for you to increase vertical leap.

  12. I played volleyball for six years and the best jumping exercise is standing facing a wall, jump as high as you can and put a piece of tape as a marker of where your highest was. Do 25 jumps 5 times touching or going over the tape. This helped me tremendously!!!!!!!!

  13. There are great responses before this on conditioning and jumping...do them then add these...

Blocking the hitting drill....this has multiple benifits, you get eight or more reps per a hitter, plus you work on your jump timing and it gives you another skill to focus on...what to do with your hands in the block.

Run stairs...I used to do a follow the leader with the whole team behind me... up and down stairs for a half an hour as warmup before practices.  This helps with jump conditioning...not just how high you can jump once, but can you jump over 30" more than 30 times in ten minutes...this is more important to the player who plays a lot of games.

Deep sand outdoor volleyball.  If you can find quality deep sand, a summer playing this makes jumping so easy it's silly.  Think about trying to jump your full height and only going up a foot or two.  The added benifit here is there are less injuries in sand volleyball, so this is a great rehab for the abuse that your joints take in season.  You will also have that jumping conditioning from this as well.

  14. In your house if you have and high arched ceilings, do your apporach (w/ jump) do that like 20 tiems a day.  Your jump should improve....mine did

  15. try ankle weights they build your leg Muscles don't run in them you will pull a ligament just walk around in them for a few hours a day

  16. Mark the height of your net on a wall and then with both arms raised jump as high as you can. Or use a marker to mark where you touched on the wall and aim for higher than what you first jumped. It's what my team has to do every time we practice. Start with doing two sets of ten. And as you jump higher add a set.

  17. my volleyball team does a very good jumping drill.

1st you jump 10 times with your feet together

2nd you spread your legs apart then jump 10 times

3rd you put your legs together, then apart, the together, and so on 10 times total

then you rotate 90 degrees and do it again.

keep rotating until you have made a circle 3 times

  18. i don't think anything will help u...

my suggestion is stretch a lot and jump about 5 times everyday and increase the height...

  19. get on the side of a curb (the things that help you park) and jump from the ground to the top of the curb for about 100 times

  20. jumping squats. you probably know what a squat is, so just start in a squat, jump as high as you can, and land in a quat, and keep it going and do as many as you can take. it's extremely tiring. trust me.

  21. Check out trampolines.

  22. squats, calf raises, and sprinting.  Trust me.  I had a vertical leap of 30 inches a few months ago.  Now, I'm at 36 inches.
