Does anyone have any experience with Pennington Smart Seed or Scotts Thermal Blue grass seed?

How did it turn out? Which is better?

I have used the Pennington.  It was fine.  The Scotts is probably good too.  This isn't the best time of year to plant bluegrass.  September would give better results.

I used to work for Scotts, and have renovated hundreds(maybe even thousands) or lawns with the Scotts seed.  

We were very optimistic about the blugrass growing well here in Kansas and Missouri, but as long as it recieves adequate water, it will grow and look great.  

Really depending on where you live and the amount of water it recieves will be the greatest factor.

I slit-seeded my entire lawn this spring with the fine fescue, thermal blue mix, and needless to say my lawn is definately the greenest thickest lawn on the block, but I do water at least twice a week, and fertilize every 25-30 days.  

Be sure no matter what you plant, it must be watered everyday for at least 3 weeks. and do not mow until 5-6" high and be sure to have a freshly sharpened blade on the mower, absolutely do not mow shorter than 3".  ELIMINATE traffic on new grass.  Once it has been mowed 3 times, it may be treated normally(herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers).
