  1. Snorkeling, scuba diving, visiting the ruins (Chichen Itza, Tulum or Coba), cenotes, parasailing, swimming with the whale sharks or dolphins, fishing, meet new people, shopping and much much more.  The area south of Cancun is known as the Riviera Maya and has tons of activities.

  2. Day trip tot he Mayan ruins or Cozamel, snorkeling cruises (with or without booze), rain-forest ATV tours, relaxing on the beach, dancing to local music, pretty much anything you can think of you'd do on any other vaca.

  3. well go to cozumel its 50 dollars per person but in thee there's so much to do and swimming with the dolphins or just hang ot at the bach and skidive its so fun if you dont want to spend that much take a boat trip that includes scuba and food and spend the day at the beach.... have fun

  4. Both suggestions (above) are excellent ideas. I also recommend you consider visiting Isla Mujeres. This is an island located off Cancun's northern shores and can be visited on your own self guided day trip. I recommend you do a search on the topic, there are so many things to do there. I loved going with Dolphin Discovery to swim with dolphins. Afterwards, we took a taxi to town, rented a golf cart, and spent the rest of the day shopping and eating. There is an excellent restaurant on Playa Lancheros where they serve a traditional Mayan BBQ fish known as Tikkin-Xic (pronounced Teekeen-Cheek). I highly recommend getting one order to share, it's a lot of food, and bring cash because they do not accept credit cards.

Another great way to spend the day is to visit Playa Del Carmen. This is the beach town that grew up around the ferry port that services the island of Cozumel. The reason why I am not recommending Cozumel is because it is a larger, more commercial version of Isla Mujeres, and I liked Isla much more. Getting back to Playa del Carmen, there is a great beach there, shopping, wonderful restaurants and cantinas. It is easy to get there on again, your own self guided day trip. You will need to catch a bus there from the main bus terminal in Cancun's downtown (Centro).

On the topic of Cancun's Centro, or Downtown, you should certainly go there as well. I highly recommend you visit the neighborhood around the Palapas Park, and do not miss the restaurants and cantinas on Yaxchilan Avenue. The strip of Av. Yaxchilan that has the most density of establishments is located just south of Av. Uxmal. Another idea is to go to the Wednesday bullfights at the bullring called Plaza de Toros. There are great cantinas and restaurants here as well, a must visit even if you do not attend a bullfight. I love the restaurant known as La Faena, wonderful steak tacos.

Anyway, I can go on and on so I should just stop here and let someone else have a chance to make some recommendations for you.

    Have fun planning your vacation,
