  1. wow a piro cool!!!!!!!!

  2. For household chemicals, try making oxygen out of hydrogen peroxide, available in most medicine cabinets.  If you make a solution of yeast and add to the peroxide, it will bubble oxygen gas because a peroxidase enzyme in the yeast catalyzes the breakdown of h2o2 into h2o and o2.  If you can capture the bubbles, like in a baggie and transfer into a jar held upside down under water, you will have a jar full of pure oxygen--try to get all the water out by displacing with oxygen.  Put a lid on it and turn it back rightside up.  Now get something small that is smoldering, like a blown out matchstick or a cigarette, or a burning piece of steel wool.  Throw it in the jar of oxygen and watch it burst into bright, white flames.

  3. OK, instead of mentos in coke, for pyrotechnical bliss try a chunk of sodium metal in toilet.  Potassium metal in toilet is even better.

Another good science experiment is what happens when you pour liquid oxygen (LOX) on various things.

    LOX on bagels

    LOX on socks

    LOX on charcoal briquettes

    LOX on pint of gasoline

Go to youtube, search for "liquid oxygen" to get a sense of the cool experiments you can do with LOX.

  4. Fire, huh? Setting people on fire is a bad choice without expert supervision, but there are some fire things I know of.

First, mix a little borax and sulfuric acid in a round-bottomed flask, then stopper it with a rubber bung with a glass tube put in it. Gently heat the flask, then light the gas given off. The gas is borane, and will give a very bright green flame.

Another one, but do this where there is a LOT of overhead space. Bubble methane gas through soap solution, then sever a clump of bubbles. They will float up, then set them alight.

Fill some balloons with hydrogen, and light one when everyone is distracted. It'd give everyone a real jump.
