I REALLY want to learn how to surf, and get good at it, but I've never done it before. Any ideas? About anything? Perhaps cheap lessons(cheap, but good please!) Well thanks anyways!

  1. Depends on where you live. Hawai'i? Cali? Florida? If you live in the Midwest it obviously won't work. :-) My suggestion is if you live near an ocean (and preferably not somewhere in Washington - even the water in N. Cali is warmer than that), head down to the beach and talk to some surfers. If all else fails, go online and type in "surfing lessons" plus the location of a decent surfing area near you. It pulls up a lot of results. Here's only a couple.

Have fun - surfing is a blast, even as a beginner. If you haven't done anything close to it yet, I would also suggest getting out there on a boogie board just so you can get used to balance and the way of the ocean, paddling out and catching the waves. It's a good way to start, and then move on to surfing. That way you won't be a total beginner.

  2. You can surf in Michigan. Check the links below.

  3. Honestly start by working on your balance and strengthen your legs. Push off the floor while in a push up position and jump to your feet in a crouch position, just like you see in surf videos. You can practice at home and then when you get to the water you will have some advantage. Surfing is not easy but if you prepare you will do fine. This is my philosphy, good luck!

  4. lol Well, where do you live? I love Walt Disney World, so if I decided to learn to surf, I'd go to Typhoon Lagoon. They give surf lessons in their surf pool. It'd probably be little safer than at an ocean, or something. And then you could move up. Plus, it's a whole water park! It'd be fun.
