my mom's birthday is in about a week and i'm going to visit around that time. i'm broke again.. as usual.. but still wanted to give my mom something meanful for her birthday. i started crocheting back in november and made her a scarf (the first thing i ever crocheted) for christmas.

i found some really cute crochet bag patterns. but i don't know if i should crochet something AGAIN for her birthday? she might be thinking "man, i wish she'd pick a new hobby so i could get some different gifts."

i know you can make a bajillion crocheted things.. just wondering if anyone had some unique ideas..

now that i've said "crochet" about 30 times. =p

thanks a bunch.

  1. that depends if she liked the scarf or not. if she did, then yes, go ahead with a bag.

anyway, personally, i'd much prefer something handmade especially for me, than somehting bought in a shop. so yes, don't worry so much, go ahead and make her the bag. if she likes crochet, you should look into tops as well for next time, there's some really cool stuff.

bet her friends are all jealous!

  2. Do you like to use thread?  I love to make lacy sachets with potpourri in them for my friends.  A simple one is to crochet a little drawstring bag and fill with potpourri.  You can jazz it up with ribbon and silk flowers.

  3. this is a wonderful pattern and quick and easy bag. You could even make 2 or 3 depending on how much groceries your mom gets.... http://suzies-yarnie-stuff.blogspot.com/...

    good luck...

  4. Well, most mothers will love anything made by their children, even if they are grown. Chances are your mother will cherish what you make her. Crochet is endless, but think about what she needs/wants. If she needs a bag or it suits her than make that. If not make her something she can wear like a shawl or skirt. If not maybe something for her kitchen, does she cook then a apron or potholders will work. Or lionbrand.com has tons of patterns for a lapghan or 5.5 hr throws or pillows. Just think of what your mother would most enjoy. Hope that helps!
