Does anyone have any good ideas for ghost story characters?

Me and my friends are going to have a ghost story reading on Halloween but everything I try doesn't seem to scare them(because they're boys.) If got any ideas for characters or a small part of the story that really creepy then please help me.

try a innocent girl  who dose all here work and never gets in trouble is murdered by the one she loved and the ghost untill to day has been trapped in a mirror for all eternity! (THE GO TO THE  AND PUT A PICTURE OF BLOODY MARRY IN TH PICTURE IS BOUND TO SCARE THE c**p OUT OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

Young children are always creepy, because horror stories go against the fact that they should be innocent, like the Sixth Sense. Don't have them go into a haunted house, that's a cliche, and don't have a knife-wielding serial killer because that's been done to death! The freakiest thing is when you tell it like it's a true story, something that happened near to you, maybe in your town. People being possessed is something that many are afraid of, and exorcisms (research that, one girl died whilst being exorcised - perhaps you could use that idea).

Tell them about this kid who never talks.  He goes to school every day, and goes to all his classes, but noone knows him.  He's really creepy and spends all his time watching people.  Then one day he snaps.
