  1. Current lomo cameras tend to be of the holga variety, quirky unmetered plastic things with optically poor lenses.  Quirky zany creative types seems to love em, everybody else uses photoshop.

The LC series are a bit better, more robust, 135 film format rather than 120 format, so the worst of the aberrations occur off of the film area.

    Visit www.lomography.com

It is an acquired taste, one that I haven't acquired (though I used to own a zenit horizon, which they also sell)

  2. Founded in 1914 as the Russian Optical and Mechanical Company, it manufactured gun sights during World War I. Today LOMO makes military optics, scientific research instruments, criminological microscopes, medical equipment, and a range of consumer products. It produced the first Russian camera in 1930.

  3. Lomo and Lomography are really 2 different things. While technically correct, I believe you are really asking about the cameras that Lomography (not Lomo) markets, not necessarily manufactures.

Lomography is a marketing company that promotes the use of plastic and toy film cameras with the slogan, Don't think, Just Shoot!

They first started promoting the Chinese made Holga and the Russian Lomo LC-A, as part of the wave of photographers who turned to plastic and toy cameras. The original group use the vintage Diana camera, but since that camera was no longer manufactured, they turned to Holgas and old vintage cameras. Lomography now market all sorts of quirky and different kinds of film cameras, including the Supersampler(a sort of 4 frame movie on a single 35mm frame), the Fisheye, and single use ColorSplash cameras (color filtered single use cameras).

They now are the manufacturer and seller of the Lomography Diana+, a reproduction of the famous vintage Diana camera, the plastic camera that started the whole Toy Camera craze.
