Does anyone have any idea about fishing?

So, I have a boat in Massachusetts and my family and I usually go on it twice a week, however, we go out in the afternoon period (between 1-4pm) and we try to catch some fish. We have never caught any good fish. The only thing that we have caught are baby sand sharks (very common to catch them). We only go into about 100-150 ft. of water. So, with this information...my question was....what time of day is it best to go fishing? Also, how deep should the water be to catch some nice fish..such as bass, blue fish, trout, etc...we are fishing in the ocean...NOT a lake or river....What kind of bait is best? Is it a good idea to go fishing in the middle of the ocean or is fishing near islands better? Thanks!

  1. well, ur not gonna catch bass, trout, or bluegill in the ocean, there all freshwater fish.

  2. well i'm not an expert on salt water fishing but i'll see what i can do. Well these dummies don't know these fish have salt-water cousins. I recomend using squidw/ a sinker heavy enough to get it to the bottom. You may get cod. What ever you do don't bring it off the bottom, or the sharks will get it. That may be your problem. keep it on the bottom. Tell me how it works out. Good luck fishing!

  3. Go to this site and read the free report before you go, it's based on saltwater fishing. It will explain some of the things you need to look for in a good fishing location. www.flounderbytes.com .

  4. Fishing is more complicated than you seem to realize. You need to know the kinds of fish available and their habits.

In general, fishing is better early in the morning and the evening. Still, this depends a lot on the type of fish. Some fish like deep water, some like shallow. Once you figure out what fish you're after, you can determine other things, like where, when, and what bait.

You can learn a lot here. Try the species locater to see what is in your area.

Good luck! And remember, even when you don't catch anything, it's good to be out on the water!
