Does anyone have any idea what the number 444 means?

For the past year, I have repeatedly seen the number 444 in various situations. I awake at 4:44 am at least once a week. I have also seen the number in graffiti on a roadway near my home, and commonly when I look at clocks to check the time. I have done some research on my own, and have come across the concept of Hebrew Gematria. It points to the number 444 as having some association with Damascus. I am losing my mind trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated.

As Deenie pointed out this is not entirely uncommon, a lot of people suffer from this. The majority see the numbers 11:11, but its the same with various triple numbers.

However, I think me and Deenie disagree about the cause.

I believe it is caused by confirmation bias. We start seeing 4:44 on a clock a few times and we get the idea that its significant. Once we get that idea, we start looking for it and it will show up in odd places. However, we discard any other numbers we see, and remember only seeing the 4:44.

Its kind of like watching the Wizard of Oz while listening to The Dark Side of the Moon. You notice all the coincidences, but discard the parts that dont match up.

I read once I believe on Angelsource.com that the numbers 444 means that your angels are surrounding you closely right now.

However I also read that it means bad luck when translated to Chinese.

Whatever the meaning try to start looking at your watch right now and then in 10 min. you might find that you break the 444 habit.

I would say synchronicity is trying to tell you something.  Check into Kabbalah or numerology.  Wait, I'll grab my book.  Numerology says the number 4 is the number of hard work.  "It connotes the building of a firm foundation.  It is the power to organize.  It is cold, intellectual and slow in its nature.  It represents restriction - the restriction brought about by the need to work hard.  It is symbolized by the square from which one can work one's way out, or rise above it.  It stands for law and justice without mercy or sympathy.  It is equivalent to Saturn, the task-master and time-keeper; the teacher or 'brake' that slows down aspirations and returns one to reality."  I also know for a fact that the Chinese do not deal with that number in any way.  There's an area in my city, Toronto, populated by a lot of Chinese and they go as far as requesting a new house address from the city if it begins with the number 4, as this number sounds like the word 'death' in their language and they obviously consider it bad luck.  I know someone who lives on a street whose address was changed from 400 to 399 1/2.

However, all human beings are pattern seeking, meaning making individuals.

I suggest that you get to decide what it means to you.

Personally I would choose some meaning that either comforted me or had some positive effects on my thoughts and move forward with life.

I might even try a lottery ticket playing 4's and combinations and multiples of 4  (44, 4, 14, ) (8, 16,24) just for fun.

Please don't lose your mind (over something so trivial, anyway).

We all notice coincidences and don't notice non-coincidences.  I bet you see numbers that aren't 444 millions of times.  

A common example of this is when we own a new car.  Suddenly, there seem to be hundreds of others on the road.  It's just that we hadn't noticed them before.

No not a clue, Sometimes numbers can have great meaning to some of us but more than likely you've noticed these numbers and are thinking there is something more to it when it's only a coincidence. A few years back I finished seeing some Sparrow then I kept seeing her initials everywhere I looked. I gave her another chance I mean who am I to argue with fate... Don't get yourself all worked up over it though, What will be will be, try not to waste your time worrying over thing's you have no control over...
