Does anyone have any ideas about what to get a 7 year old girl for her birthday?

I'm definitely going to give her a few books, because she loves to read and I really want to encourage that. Buuut, I don't want to be the aunt who always gives books, so I wanted to get her something fun, too. I know some of the TV shows she likes (Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants).

Anyone have any ideas?

  1. Art Supplies.  I almost always give art supplies when we need to buy presents for another child.

I don't know any child that doesn't like them; they're consumable (ie...they will be used up by the time child outgrows them and won't sit around taking up space forever), they encourage creativity and open-ended play, they are unlikely to offend anyone's sensibilities (some parents don't like Bratz, others don't want plastic toys, etc), and you can easily select items for kids from toddler age up to teens.

  2. don't go overboard -some books and a "gift card" for a special day together.

  3. Hi, how about personalized books? Kids love to hear/read their own name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Little Mermaid, Ballerina Princess, Flintstones, Looney Tunes, s****.-Doo, Noah's Ark, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful, unique & special gift... It's something they can enjoy now and keep forever!! Good Luck!

  4. Polly Pockets, Webkinz, Hannah Montana, and High School Musical are what's big with my daughter and her friends (2nd grade).

But classic gifts like art supplies always go over well, too.

  5. dont get Bratz dolls... I think for some children they are inappropriate. I dont let my 6 year old play with them... Polly Pocket's are popular for that age. AlsoWebkinz. My sis always gets my daughter book & stuff, but also a collector's Barbie for my daughter to put up & save til she is older. It stays in the box & is somewhat like an investment for her.

  6. Webkinz are HUGE with girls that age.   By the way...Dora is for preschool kids.

  7. Dora is a little too young for her now.  How about taking her to skating lessons or to a cooking class?  She might think that it's really neat.  Find out where there are some cool exhibits near your town and take her there.  Be the aunt that exposes her to cultural things.

  8. my daughter whose 7 loves painting, they have canvas painting sets that she loves.. dolls and makeup are always big hits

My daughter is coming up on 6 years old.  I know she loves anything Barbie, ponies, littlest pet shops, Hannah Montana (just starting with that).  Anything girlie most little 7 year olds will like.  If she still likes Dora, maybe get her a dora book and a dora toy too.  Then you've done the fun thing and the book thing.

  23. I have a 7 year old girl and know lots more of them. Most would consider Dora too babyish for them. The 7 yr old girls I know are crazy for Hannah Montana and High School Musical. They love anything for singing and dancing. They like new clothes, books, DVDs of their favourite movies. They all like craft stuff. They like Webkinz, Bratz and Littlest Pet Shop toys. Most like to use the computer and like computer games, especially dress up type games.

They love a day out to special places like museums and science centres. They like to get their nails done. They are lots of fun to hang with because they are still little girls who love Spongebob, but are starting to be big girls who love pretty things and also intellectual stimulation. They will try new things.
