I want to make books throughout the year with my three year olds so that each child will have a different book to take home at the end of the year.

  1. save one art project from each month, a watercolor a handprint, a glueing project. EAch should be the childs work and each will be different.

  2. we make Me Books and each month we have a sheet of paper with a different question on it. September, we weighed and measured them and did one on their favorite color. October was what they would be for Halloween.  November was what one thing would they take with them on the Mayflower.  December was what they thought the best part of Christmas was.  January was their favorite food, feburary was their favorite valentine. March was what they would wish for if they caught a leprechaun.  April is what they will do next year in kindergarten and then May is weigh and measure again to see how much they have grown!  We give them to them for a Mother's day gift then.

  3. You could make a "touch book", with on each page a different texture to touch, for ex. for "soft" they would glue some cotton balls, for "rough" they would glue sand paper.

They could also make a "yellow page book". Each child would make his own page drawing himself on top of his sheet and then writing down his phone number and/or address. Of course this is for children who already know how to write their letters and numbers.

You could also make receipe books.

  4. www.edhelper.com

print out shjeets, and staple them together.

  5. I am not really sure if you are talking about theme books that go with the lessons, or something like a yearbook.  If you are talking about theme books the easiest and cheapest way to do that is to use grocery sacks cut into pages and glue their work from the unit on the pages, tie with ribbon.

If you are talking about a yearbook, or remembrance book, my children's preschool just uses a 3 ring binder and plastic sleeves.  They take pictures throughout the year and make scapbook pages which they then slide into the plastic sleeves.  Each book is unique to the child in that their pictures are of them, but each child will have a Valentine's, Christmas, Easter etc... page.  The teachers use a lot of the premade pages so it does not take very long to put the books together if done a little at a time throughout the year.  Hope this helps.

  6. I have my Kindergarten class publish a book every year entitled, When I Grow Up I want to be a...The parents LOVE it, and you'd be amazed at all the creative answers (a mermaid, in the army like my dad... cute stuff.  I use http://www.nationwide-learning.com/index... for the publishing.  They do a great job and the books are reasonably priced.  I always apply for a grant or go to the school's committees for funding so each child will be sure to get a book.  I've seen others with the alphabet, where page one is all about things beginning with a... etc.

  7. You can get some ideas here

  8. you could make books about the sun and the moon or you know those books that are like I Love you more than cows love to moo. or books about the sounds animals make. you could write the words in each book, like each page, then have them draw pictures. so if your doing the animal sounds one, you would have a page (example) that says "The Cow goes Moo!" and theyd draw their picture underneath

  9. You might want to consider doing little "memory" books for each child.  It's amazing how much a child changes even during one years time without our really seeing it happen.

Just use your digital camera (saves on the fees of developing) if you have one or use the cheap travel cameras and take photos of each child to enter into small photo books that you can pick up cheap at craft stores ,discount stores or scrap book supply store and write cute captions or funny quips for whatever they were doing at the time then decorate the page with little stickers to dress them up.

It's something both parents and the children will treasure years down the road.  At the end of the year maybe take a class picture for graduation for memories of your time together.  I would have each book begin with the child's handprint on the first page then snap away !!

Good luck with whatever you do !  It's nice that your seeking how help to do something special for the little ones your with.

  10. I did this with a group of 3-5 year olds.  We made about a book a month.  I always gave each child a sheet of manilla paper to make their page so that the books would be uniform, and punched holes after laminating and bound them with book rings.  Sometimes the book was something like 'make a picture of what you did over the weekend' or we made a picture after reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Did You See?  and they each drew an animal on their page to show what they saw.  Or draw a picture of your favorite season, etc. etc.  Then at the end of the year, I snapped open the book rings, and put each child's pages from all the books into their own book, and let them draw the cover.  I wrote the title on their book, by 'child's name' and had the cover laminated, and sent each kid home with a book full of their own drawings from the year.  The kids LOVED doing them, and loved having their own to take home.
