Does anyone have any ideas for science projects for homeschoolers?

I need one that's fun, easy, and can be done by one person. I don't have that much space. My interests are animals, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, plants, and sort of chemistry. Best idea gets ten points.

this just points out how unprepared parents are to home school.  If you had an education degree you would have learned enough to come up with a thousand projects. Leave teaching to teachers and parenting to parenting. They are NOT interchangeable.

As you don't give your grade level, I might be a little off.

Here are 2 suggestions that won't take much space and are along your 'like' lines.

Perfume Chemist:

Place one of the following ingredients in a clear small plastic container....cloves,vanilla bean,cinnamon bark,orange or lemon peel bits (or come up with your own).

Cover with 2 tablespoons(30ml) of Rubbing Alchol and secure the lid.

Shake once a day for a wek. When the solution smells more like the fragrance than the rubbing alchol, it's ready. Dab the scented alchol on your wrist and smell. You've made perfume.

***For stronger scents, replace the solute with a fresh one after a week. Experiement and find your favorite.*****

OR

Crystal growing or Geodes

Make a variety of crystal solutions by supersaterating any of these solids in water:

>table salt

>Rock salt

>Sugar

>Baking Soda

>Epsom salts

>Borax

Use the solutions to make these projects

>>>Crystal clumps: set the jar of supersatuated water where it won't be disturbed and watch crystals form on the bottom and sides.

>>>>Crystal sculptures: Set a pipe cleaner shape in the jar and watch crystals grow on the shape.

>>>>Geodes: Place samll peices of waxed paper in sections of egg cartons. Set clean eggshell halves in the egg carton. Pour a small amount of crystal solution into the shell. In a few days, crystals will form inside the shells. It looks like a geode.

****Saturated solutions*****

Dissolve as much solids as the liquid can hold, until the solids start settleing on the bottom.

*****Supersaturated solution*******

Heat the saturated solution and add even more solids. Cool it down. Supersaurated solutions are best for crystal growing.

Try looking at the library for books on science projects or science fair projects. Lots of easy but cool ideas. Btw, this is how trained teachers get ideas, too--they look in books.
