Question:

Does anyone have any organization tips?

The first day of school's creeping up and I'm really not ready for it. It's not the school or anything--I'm going to be a Sophomore in high school in the same school district I've been going to school to my whole life along with the friends I've known my whole life. So, that's no big deal. Last year, it was, but this year, not so much.

The big thing I'm having trouble with is organization. I'm a huge procrastinator and I'm not really all that organized. Last year, I tried a planner, but I normally forgot to use it because I just got it in the middle of the year and I wasn't used to it. This year, I'm planning on getting one before school starts, but I don't really know if I'm going to use it all the time. Can anyone help me figure out a way to use it everyday??

Also, I'm going to have homework every night, so I need a place to do it. In my room, I have a desk, but it is really unorganized. There is a bunch of stuff on top of it and inside the drawers, as well. Does anyone have any tips about this, too?? I'm willing to do anything to get more organized.

Thanks!!

  1. Hi there! Thanks for asking a question about a topic I am really interested in!

Firstly, your desk. How big is it? Make sure you have a decent amount of space so you can spread out etc. Take all your junk and put it on the floor, where you can sort through it all. Be ruthless with stuff you don't use any more - if it's worthless, chuck it out, but save some stuff to sell on-linee so you can use the money for the following ideas.

Put some lever arch files on your desk etc and put all your stuff in them - ORGANISED! Just force yourself to use your planner - after awhile it will become second nature!

Push your self with your school work - it really works. Goodluck!

  2. for the planner get your friends to remind you......

for the desk throw out the junk and get an accordian folder or something like that for important papers you have but don't really need right now

  3. Here's some links to sites that may help with organisation...

    http://www.neattv.com/aboutShow.html

    http://www.containerstore.com/experthelp...

    http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/get...

Personally I love the show NEAT and she has some links (divided up by episodes each season) that apply to your problem, she is a professional organiser so can give you much better advice than I can,

    For example

How to organise a Messy Desk   http://www.neattv.com/season1/tips(7).ht...

and these articles deal with just getting organised for school..

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2050116_get-orga...

    http://www.aie.org/MiddleSchool/Planning...

There are some great ideas in these links, and I'm sure you'll find some that appeal to your personality type, personally, I am not a very organised person but learnt to become more organised by using stunning drop files (lovely patterns on them) so I don't hate opening the file drawers (that used to have disgusting green and grey drop files) I even spray painted my filing cabinet from grey to gloss white, my ring binders are in lovely colours and really neatly labelled, and I picked beautiful drawer dividers and desk organisers that make me want to keep things looking nice.  I also don't allow myself to surf the net until I have done my banking and paid bills first, little things like that have taken my organising from zero to liveable. Good Luck!
