My daughter is 16 months old and I have just started to potty train her. I know it's early, but she is very interested in the potty and I want to get started while she is into it. I got her a cute potty that she loves and I have been putting her on it often. She pulls her pull up up and down, but when she finally gets on the potty seat...nothing. Any tips??

  1. Just keep doing what you are doing.....she is still rather young and her bladder is still very immature. If she likes sitting on the potty and nothing comes out.....no problem.....just keep allowing her to do that. Eventually, her body will catch on. Most kids do not start potty training until 2 1/2 yrs to 3 yrs old.

  2. If she shows interest then go with it.  Girls tend to learn it faster than boys. I'd ask her if she wants to potty every time you go to the bathroom, to get her used to thinking about when she needs to go.  My daughter literally potty trained over night.  She woke up one day when she was about 2 yrs old and said I'm wear panties and never looked back.  It was amazing, lol.  Then my son was a totally different story, he took FOREVER to get him interested.

If they aren't interested, I promise, it will never work.

  3. She might be too young.  If you have solid floors in your downstairs you could try leaving her diaper or pull up off during the day. Then when she goes, she will know it.

As they say, if they're not ready it will take 3 months to train.  If ready 3 days!

  4. I have this great video that was free from pull-ups, and if you and your daughter watch it together you might get some great tips!  visit the pull ups website and look for the free dvd offer!  Good luck with the potty training!

Oh, and to tide you over until you get the dvd, one of the tips is to set them down and sit on the potty with her, then press on her lower abdomen and tell her to release ... worked with my daughter at least lol, good luck!

  5. When my aunt potty trained her daugher she waited for when they could stay in all day, like on weekends and let her go around naked and whenever she started to go or looked like she had to go sat her on the potty. No lie she was potty trained in just a few weeks! I plan on doing the same thing with my son when hes ready. Just keep that potty close by! and be prepared to clean up accidents.

  6. The best way to is to create a reward system with your childs favorite candy such as M&Ms or skittles and do this for 7 days. Also, have a large prize for the 7th day. See: http://www.ehow.com/how_4497167_potty-tr... for more details.

  7. Same exact thing happened with my daughter,  i would sit her on the toilet and she would pretend to pee or p**p and then wipe herself and she wouldnt do anything but after a while she would also see me use the bathroom and she caught on to what i was doing and my suggestion would be to just keep on until she actually starts going on her own and dont push her as much and youll see that it comes  naturally for her
