Does anyone have any remedies for gum ache?

I had a tooth extracted two days ago and am in agony. I have been taking 8 paracetamols a day for the pain but they wear off pretty quickly.

I am frightened of the dentist so it took a lot for me to get the extraction so I don't want to have to go back to the dentist. There is a small piece of what looks like tooth where the tooth was removed. It was a large tooth.

I have tried to gargle with salt water but it makes me feel a bit sick. I can't sleep more than 4 hours and I am not enjoying food.

  1. when I have a question I can't get answered here, they cover everything including dental questions , sounds like dry socket

  2. doctor

  3. If it looks like there is still a piece of tooth there then the dentist may not have removed the whole thing.  I had wisdom teeth removed years ago and yeah there's a hole left but there should not be any part of the tooth leftover.  Also, you should not be feeling any sort of pain 2 days later, I got my teeth removed on the same day and went back to work an hour later.  I also had another tooth removed a few years ago and never had any complications.  You may not like the idea but you should go back to the dentist to make sure all of the tooth was removed and that there is no infection forming.  Good luck, feel better, and call your dentist!

  4. Sounds like you have a dry socket. Which hurts more than the toothache before the tooth was removed. You have to go back to the dentist. First call your MD and ask for something to relax you, then go back to the dentist. I know how scary it is, but think about how good you will feel. I would call before the weekend rolls around.

  5. get sum1 one to hurt u more sumwere else so it takes ur mind off the gumache

  6. some times a bit of tooth breaks off during extraction - don't worry it will work its way out.  You should return to your dentist, but if you feel you can't, make an emergency appt with your GP.

Tonight I suggest a good stiff drink to help with the pain and to help you sleep - good luck

  7. kissing?

  8. You could try whiskey - hold it in your mouth until it gets numb and then spit.

  9. Use DR. Tichenor's Mouthwash. Take it pour just a couple drops in a small cup, get a q-tip dip it into the cup, and rub it on your gum. You will feel better. Be careful its strong. I have done it for years old school remedy.

  10. Wal mart sells a type of over the counter novacane for your gums. But to be honest you might still have a bit of nerve in your gum and thats causing all the pain/

The only hope it to go back and take care of it bud.

    Naked truth.

  11. You need to go back to the dentist ASAP.  Frightened or not...This could become infected quickly and you could end up in more trouble than you wanted.

In the meantime, get yourself some extra strength Orajel.

Seriously, you need to go back to the dentist.
