Question:

Does anyone have any simple recipes?

I hate to post this again but I had to delete the last question I posted due to a rather offensive idiotic response to it. But anyway... I would like a good website with some simple recipes that don't require too many odd ingredients. Since I'm not a great cook at all I'd like to learn more about cooking and hopefully get to a point where I'm comfortable cooking 1 or 2 good and somewhat healthy meals a day. I'm not looking for just specific groups like "Side dishes" or something like that but rather a nice website or a good recipe for any occasion. And please no stupid offensive or useless answers -.- thank you.

  1. Try this one. I haven't given it a name, but it's very very easy and tastes good too:

The amounts here are for 2, and you can adjust accordingly.

    Ingredients:

2 chicken b*****s, boneless, sliced into 1/2" wide strips

    1 onion, diced

    1 red bell pepper, diced

    1/2" ginger root, grated

    2-4 spring onions, sliced

    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 cup bean sprouts

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    3 tablespoons soy sauce

    Salt and pepper to taste

Warm the olive oil in a pan, and then sauté the onion, pepper, ginger and garlic until the onion is translucent.

Rub the salt and pepper into the chicken, then add the chicken to the pan and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring, until cooked through.

Add the bean sprouts and soy, and cook for about 1 minute.

You're done. Garnish with the green onion and serve over rice.

  3. I don't usually use food websites, you never know if it will turn out good. These are my recipes that my family loves, enjoy!

    Chicken Enchilada Casserole

1 – 1 ½ lb boneless chicken, cut into bite size chunks

1 can cream of mushroom soup

    1 - 8 oz carton sour cream

1 small can chopped Ortega green chiles

1 sml package flour tortillas, cut or torn in small pieces

8 oz jalapeno or regular jack cheese, grated

Cook chicken in skillet with a little water and ½ tsp garlic salt or powder, until no longer pink Remove and reserve.

In a bowl combine the next four ingredients, plus 6 oz of the cheese, add the chicken. Mix well and place in greased casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese and bake at

    350 F for 1 hour.

Serving suggestions: Mexicorn and Mexican rice.

    Quick Chicken Parmesan

4 Boneless Chicken b*****s, pounded flat

1 jar Spaghetti Sauce (I use Prego mushroom and garlic)

    3 oz. Mozzarella Cheese, grated

    2 cups Italian Bread Crumbs

    2 oz. Parmesan Cheese

    1/2 tsp garlic salt

1 egg, plus 1 tbs water, slightly beaten

Mix Italian breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and garlic salt together in bowl. Beat 1 egg in another bowl, 1 tbs water and a dash of garlic salt. Dip chicken in egg, then in crumbs and fry in oil until brown on each side (10 – 15 min each side). Pour spaghetti sauce over chicken and sprinkle with cheese, cover so cheese melts and serve. Makes 4 servings.

    Serving Suggestions:

I serve this with Fettuccini Alfredo and garlic bread.

    Creamy Fettuccini Alfredo

1 – 8 oz. Package Philly Cream Cheese (I use the light version – 1/3 less fat), cubed

¾ cup (3 oz.) fresh grated Parmesan cheese (I like De Giorno, don’t use Kraft)

    ½ cup margarine (I use I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Light)

½ cup milk or half and half (I use 1% or 2% low fat)

8 oz. fettuccini, cooked, drained (I use the fresh Contadina low fat one)

In large saucepan, combine cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, margarine and milk.

Stir over low heat until smooth. Add to drained fettuccini and toss lightly. Sprinkle with fresh Parmesan cheese if desired. Makes 4 servings.

    Porcupine Balls

    1 egg

    ½ cup water

1 envelope lipton onion soup mix

1 ½ lbs lean ground beef

    ½ - ¾ cup uncooked minute rice

1 – 46 oz bottle of Campbell Tomato Juice

    1 tsp sugar

Beat egg slightly with water and 2 tbs soup mix. Mix lightly with beef and ¼ cup of rice. Shape into large meatballs (1 ½ to 2 inches). Roll in remaining rice, pressing it lightly into the meatball. Use more rice if needed.

Heat tomato juice to boiling. Stir in remaining onion soup mix and sugar. Place meatballs in sauce and cover. Simmer, stirring several times for 50 minutes.

Serving suggestions:  Great with a vegetable or salad and rolls.

    Cajun Fried Chicken or Pork

4-5 boneless chicken b*****s, boneless pork chops

1 cup of self-rising flour, unsifted

    1 tsp garlic salt

    1 tsp cayenne pepper

    1tbs Dijon mustard

    1/3 cup Tabasco

    ¼ cup water

    1 – 1 ½ cups oil, for frying

Combine cayenne pepper, mustard, Tabasco, and water in plastic container or gallon size zip lock bag. If you pierce chicken with a fork first it will be a lot spicier (don’t do this unless you like it HOT!). Place chicken in marinade, turning to coat well. Marinate for no more than 1 hour, turning frequently.

Combine self-rising flour and garlic salt in a plastic bag or container. Add chicken to coat, one at a time is best. I use tongs so my hands don’t get messy.

Heat vegetable oil in large skillet on medium high heat.

Fry chicken pieces, turning once, for about 15-20 minutes total. Remove from pan immediately and keep warm. If you use regular pieces of chicken, with bone in, cook for at least 30-45 minutes, or until done.

    Serving Suggestions:

Garlic flavored pasta or garlic mashed potatoes and green beans or broccoli.

Don Joses’s Beef, Shrimp, or Chicken Fajitas

    Marinade:

    1 clove garlic, minced

    2 tbs corn oil

1 tbs lemon or lime juice

    1 tbs Worcestershire sauce

    dash of salt and pepper

4-5 boneless chicken b*****s, cut in strips, 2 lbs beef sirloin cut in strips or 1 ½ lbs of

           shrimp, shelled and de-veined

1 tbs corn oil 1 large onion, sliced

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 red or yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced

    12 small flour tortillas, heated

Combine all ingredients in the marinade together in a plastic container or zip lock bag, mix. Add chicken to coat. Marinade for at least 15 minutes, turning several times. Add oil to large skillet and heat on medium-high. Add chicken and sauté until brown. Add onion and bell pepper and sauté until cooked but slightly crisp. Serve on tortillas. Garnish with sour cream and shredded Cheddar or Jack cheese.

  6. I'm a pastry chef, but that's strictly desserts! I hate to cook and I feel your pain. Unfortunately I have to make dinner every night for me and my husband. The easiest, user friendly site I've found is http://www.allrecipes.com, but it's user based so you need to be careful and read comments on the recipes. The best way, really, is to start fooling around with stuff yourself, though. I've made a couple of meals that we needed to toss and opt for pizza instead. It happens. You need to familiarize yourself with seasoning and cooking time, most of all. I put garlic in everything, but then again I'm Italian! :) Another good website out there is http://www.recipezaar.com. Again, it's user based but it's not gourmet cooking. Good luck and just remember that everyone messes things up eventually!

  7. Start with some of these websites.  I use them to find easy recipes or quick recipes.

    www.bettycrocker.com

    www.pillsbury.com

    www.allrecipes.com

I think it's great that you want to cook for yourself.  It's really fun!  And once you get the hang of it, try moving up a level.  I hope this helps!

  8. Cooks.com

    allrecipes.com

They're great, simple stuff with everday ingredients. Also shows how difficult the recipe is. And gives alternatives for the same recipe. so you can learn to make thai curry the easy way, or the more intermediate way.

It's all good fun, bon appetit!

  9. Go to your local bookstore there is a cookbook that is only two or three ingredients per recipe, sorry only saw it in passing. Try allrecipes.com it is a great site for recipes. Stick to basics like a baked potato with a steak and a vegetable. Good luck
