Does anyone have any stories of how they were/are PERSONALLY affected by global warming?

I am doing a massive project on global warming and its affects. One part of this project is to provide a true story on how global warming has personally affected someone. I do not mean you are mad because the temperatures are rising, I mean something like if you and your family were struggling because of an affect global warming had on your day to day lifestyle.

I also have to give two interviews with people about this, so if you're interested please let me know.

  1. Global warming is taking my lightbulbs away.  It's added moonshine to my gasoline, raising the cost of both my gasoline AND my moonshine (along with everything ELSE dependent upon corn).  It's threatening to turn my nation into a poor socialists' state like most of the other countries of this planet and, by all predictions, will cause the extinction of my steak and hamburgers within a decade or two.

Edit:  Hey greengroveinc....your profile says you're from the midwest.  Since when did the midwest join the Bible Belt??  The South experienced droughts last year...all year long.  This year's been a treat!  Thank you solar cycle 24!

Edit (greengroveinc):  I stand corrected (and admit it)....MO is "iffy" in both regards, but I'll always yield to the local on issues of self-identification.  To show you there's no hard feelings, I've taken the time to review and rate some of the answers you've given to other questions.  Thumbs up!

  2. Well, the city where I live got a record amount of "global warming" this winter- we haven't seen this much snow since the 1930s.

  3. I live in Germany. I wish global warming was more than a hype. It is way to cold here. We had snow storms in April. I am definitely effected by global hysteria. It eats up my countries economy.

Seems to me a like a cult, not science. Too bad so many people are effected by this hype.

  4. I would be glad to give an interview. . . but to answer your question:

I am the only child from a long line of farmers.  We always had our ups and downs with the crops and organic gardens, but the past ten years has been dreadful.  We have had really wet springs that are abnormal (crops have to be put in late). . . crazy hot summers with droughts that last sometimes for two months (a lot of stuff dies off even with tons of water). . . a short autumn (we've had to harvest later, so the early freezes don't help; plus no pretty leaves changing color). . . and I think last year was about the most "almost normal" winter I've personally seen in over 20 years. . . except there is so much water in the ground, that the rains keep the fields too muddy to start discing:)

We also have problems with our different livestock.  The wild weather temps fluctuating up an average of 50 degrees in a day has our fowl laying eggs off schedule, and the birthing times go back and forth a month or two each year for the rest of the flock.  Our flower buds are being frozen (not much flowers at all anymore), so the hummingbirds and bees don't have much (and by the way bees are slowly going extinct which is crazy, cause we need them for pollination), and our orchards have bore fruit for the first time in two years (keeping fingers crossed).  Overall, it is a mess, and we live in the bible belt.  I don't know what is going to happen to all the farmer's in our area. . . quite a few of them have lost most everything they own now.

Hope this helps for your project.  Maybe you can help educate some people to save themselves :)

    Good luck!!!

Edit:  Hey, Evans, why don't you wiki "Bible Belt". . . I live in Missouri, and it is not only the Midwest, but still here in the Bible Belt. . . lol :)  I also lived down in Louisiana for several years, and most all of my family came from the confederate south :)  I do agree with you that the weather patterns are widespread (all over the world), and I believe I also stated that this is the first year that our orchards are doing well in a couple of years. . . We'll see how it goes from here on out :)  Your cracking me up man :)  That is why I gave you thumbs up to your thumbs down for me :)  Peace!!!
