  1. I've been living in Italy for several years and it has been a terriffic experience. There are a lot of students that study in Italy.

The train system is a very good way to get around and do some exploring while you're in Italy. You can check prices and schedules at: http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/ferrovi... It's very easy to get out on the weekends and explore tha history, art, and architecture of Italy. If you're here for an extended period, you will be able to see more than just the highlights. Spend some time around Lago Garda. Look for local festivals. There are interesting things going on in Italy all the time and they usually include good, cheap food that are specialties to the locality. A good resource for finding events world-wide is: http://www.whatsonwhen.com/sisp/index.ht... There are lots of concerts - The Cornetto Free Music Festival in Rome, Naples, and Milan, Jazz Festivals, classical music, etc.

You'll also be able to use the train system to explore more of Europe. With the night trains, you can sleep on your way to/from a destination and maximize time spent where ever you go. From northern Italy, I can get to Paris, Vienna, Munich, Barcelona, Salzburg, Geneva, Zurich, ... for weekend trips. There are also a lot of budget airlines: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/

There are a lot of other activities: hiking in the mountains is popular, biking, hit the beaches, ... You'll have a great time here.

  2. This is my 3rd year living in Italy, 2 years spent in Rome and 1 year in Sicily. Italy has some amazing places to visit, so unique and diverse. The food is also amazing and different in every region. If you do come for a visit then there will be many places to go, and many things to do and see...just depends what sort of things you like (mountains, sea, modern cities, old ruins etc...)

  3. Italy is a fantastic place to visit!

This is way too general a question -- there is too much to do and see in Italy. If you are going to spend time there do yourself a favor -- get a guide book do some research!  You could spend 30 days in Rome alone and not see or do everything possible!

  4. I'm Italian and i live in Italy...it's beautiful.... if you come here you have to visit the most important city's as:Milan,Florence,Rome, venezia, and Naples.
