  1. be patient,it doesn't come from the first time you try, you've to exercise a lot to be good at surfing it's one of the most complicated sports, especially wave surfing!kiting is a lot easier, but it's not so funny I think....Have FUN!

  2. Go kayakking instead - it's great.

  3. Dont' listen to Turtle and get out of the way kook!

  4. when you stand up you turn with your front foot and lean on your back

don't let the wave crash on top of you, it hurts, try and catch it after it breaks (to begin with) and then while it's breaking as you get better

you could start out just catching waves on your stomach and then eventually standing up during it as you progress

  5. Acquire what they call a "Soft Board," the Bigger the Better, in that the Larger the Board the Greater the Stability  (less side to side rocking) when attempting to Stand.  Moreover, soft boards don't hurt as much if you should get bonked... There is a Surfing Manual entitled: "Surfing in 30 Minutes," though it may well be difficult to find...

  6. Go slow. Start with small waves.

  7. dont fall off the board for a start

  8. watch out for other surfers and dont crash into them.

  9. Careful you don't get eaten by a huge shark.

  10. Don't, it's cold wet and too much like hard work. Go to the pub instead!

  11. The important thing is to have someone in your local surf shop, who has experience, help you find a board that is right for you. And that depends on what you want to do? Do you want to rip it up or just take it easy in the surf. The biggest mistake is to start on a long board, thinking once you can stand on it you can get a thruster, fish, wrong, get the board that will fit you, if you start on a short board you will do just as good in the long run, the longer the time you spend in the water the better even if it to just practise paddling around. go for it, there is nothing like it.

  12. learn to paddle good ... before you even try to stand.

  13. LEARNING to surf just takes a lot of time in the ocean, but the best thing a begginer can do before they start is to learn (and understand!) the "rules" of surfing, esp. if you are going to an area that is somewhat crowded. It is best to start out at a beach break where you can catch more waves and the ocean bottom wont hurt you when you fall. It is always a good idea to learn with someone who already knows how to surf, but if you cant do that, don't be afraid to ask other surfers out in the water about things. Most will be willing to give you a few tips, esp if you have shown them that you have at least learned the basic rules of surfing (like not cutting people off or tossing your board to the side when a wave hits you (if there is someone behind you). Some might be *******, but dont let them bother you, everyone was a beginner at one point...Most of all, HAVE FUN

  14. Surfing is extremely fun and in the beginning you may do a lot of paddling. Remember if you can stand on a balance beam you can surf. The hardess part I have found is the stuff no one tells you about, like getting out beyond the breaking waves    ( you have to paddle alot). With any swimming sport -when you even feel a little tired, go in and rest- surfing can be dangerous. Why are you waiting till August- start now!!!! Once you are hooked you will love it for life!Did you notice I said paddle alot here - thats what you do in the sport :)

  15. wondering what you want to know, more specifically. as a beginner, you've really gotta commit a lot of time and be patient, its a super tough sport that has a really steep learning curve. but once you get hooked, you're in! be sure to wear something secure, if its warm where you'll be, you can wear a rash guard. if you decide to wear a bikini, get one that is really snug. go with someone who's experienced. learn what the etiquette is where you're going, so that you don't get your butt kicked. stick with it and have fun!!!

  16. yeah don't wear a bikini thing like Paris Hilton,  you need something that will cover your b*****s.

    Have fun
