I go to Vail, CO every winter and have been skiing since I was 5 but just started snowboarding this past winter. I really want to get to advanced/freestyle the next time I'm in vail during the winter but I don't know how seeing as I live in the lovely (not) midwest.

  1. perfect north slopes is a little place in indiana.  its got like 10 slopes, from bunny hill to double black diamond.  i could do all of the blue squares after two days there and no other experience.

if you already knew all this, then yes, i am stupid.

  2. The best thing for you to do would be to travel for a weekend to Wisconsin with your family....There, you can work on your skills, on less difficult runs..so you'll be ready for vail

  3. Boot up, board up and try to ride on an empty 2L pop bottle for some tricky advanced practice. If you can ride the bottle at home, you'll find your balance and reflexes are much better.

Also, get in good physical shape, even if you are already shapely. Use a jump rope for 15 minutes every day, swim for an hour and try running a 1/2 hour a day. That should put you in good pre season shape. Nothing will do it like boarding, but this will help.

  4. The midwest is lovely.  Well, maybe not where you're coming from...  You should probably travel to somewhere where there is a hill even if you can't make it to an actual place.  Getting good at snowboarding is learning the feel of it--which takes time.  If you buy an indo board, or something else that is similar for balance, that could help you with possible balance issues but it's kinda worthless unless you go snowboarding.

  5. Hmm thas a bummer...go somewhere closer then CO for vacation for a weekend to even a week long..or you can get a balance board..or even a 12 wheeled skateboard which simulates riding a snowboard but u can do it on the streets and what not.

  6. Paoil Peaks in Paoli Indiana.  South Central Indiana, about 40 miles NE of Jasper.

    Hidden Valley in St. Louis

Several places in Ohio and Michigan as well
