I have a dark complexion with combination skin. I mostly have blackheads, but every so often I have a breakout. I am looking for any advice or maybe a skincare regimen that worked for you.

  1. 1) Cook oatmeal and apply on face for fifteen minutes and wash.

    2) Make a warm bath with blanch of nettle and rosemary.

    3) Apply equal amount of lemon juice and rose water with a cotton ball and wash it after haif an hour for 15 to 20 days.

  2. I had the same problem and I don't use that much treatments.

I think you should buy Nitrogena, it clears out your face and you'll be seeing results pronto.

As for me, like I said, I don't use much treatment. I use average lotion. I use Nitrogena lotion, then I rub it all over my face before I go to bed and when I wake up my face gets cleared up. If you do that every night and forget to put it on one night.. then your skin kind of breaks out so you need to be in a routine.

Then in the morning just use powder all over your face so that it won't be oily and well, it makes your skin look cleaner, smooth and nice. :)

  3. I've had good results with the acne.org regimen and products.

    http://acne.org/

    Mild cleanser

    Lots of benzoyl peroxide

    Moisturizer with AHA

You can find all the supplies at your drugstore, which is nice, or you can order online from his site.

But if you're having mostly blackheads and only occasional pimples, you might do better on a salicylic acid to exfoliate your pores more efficiently. That should help with both problems. Most drugstore salicylic acids aren't acidic enough, so here's a better one:

    And here's a gentle, pH-neutral cleanser:

They're expensive, but a little goes a long way and they'll last you forever. Make sure to use sunscreen every day if you're using any sort of facial exfoliant, because it will make you more sensitive to the sun, even if you have darker skin.

    Best wishes!

Your question is very broad and you need to get professional advice. I will explain why it's a broad question!

Your age plays a role! How old are you? Do you always have breakouts?

However, acne can result from several factors such an increase in hormone levels. In males testosterone or androgens. In females, androgens respectively. The increase in androgen levels can stimulate the oil glands to become enlarged and thus more oil production is produced. An increased oil production can clog the pores with oil or sebum ( white thick substance) which cause the cell walls of the pores in the skin to breakdown. This process allows bacteria to form and thus breakouts develop.

Genetics may also be a cause. It is a myth that greasy food or chocolate causes breakouts.

However, using make-up sponges that are not changed or washed often can contaminate the pores with bacteria which may develop into acneic breakouts.

If you are a teenager ( which I assume that you are) your hormones play a definite role in your breakouts.

If you have severe breakouts than you might need medication. There are many factors.

The most important thing is that you need products that are AGE APPROPRIATE! Every age group has different products appropriate for them. If you are young than you need milder products as to not dry out your beautiful young skin.

The problem with commercial skin products is that they are manufactured for MASSES OF PEOPLE and are not specifically made for different peoples' needs.

Your skin type is different than mine and your age differs from mine so how is it logical that we both use the same skin product for breakouts. We need different strengths of cleansers and toners. Do you kind of understand what I am getting at?

Here is my STRONG SUGGESTION for you. I refer all my students and patients to this website:

    www.aboutyourskincare.com

You need to consult with professionals and on this website YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS FOR FREE AND A SKIN EXPERT/PHYSICIAN WILL ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. It would be a shame if you dont take advantage of this free service.

Lastly, they have incredible products for breakouts and they make them specifically for every kind of skin type. That means that if your breakouts are more severe than mine, than while we both will buy the same product yours will have stronger ingredients than mine will.

They have a mild glycolic acid cleanser that's great for your type of skin and also a DRYING LOTION ( I have 3 bottles) that you put directly on your breakouts and the next day it's gone. It's truely magic in a bottle.

A basic guideline for properly taking care of your skin is this ( now if you're a young girl you will need fewer products than this):

    Night time:

    1. Exfoliate the skin

    2. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    3. Mild Glycolic Acid Toner ( cleans off the excess debris and balances the PH level of the skin).

    4. Drying Lotion used only on breakouts

    5. Moisturizer

    Morning:

    1. Mild Glycolic Acid Cleanser

    2. Moisturizing cream

The above is a standard you may need to only use one or two products. Visit: www.aboutyourskincare.com

As I suggested and click on the ASK FOR FREE section send them an email and you will get free expert skin care advice.

  5. Anything that has Sulfur as the active ingredient works wonders, which are mainly marketed as anti-fungal treatments, but if you look at "Uses" on the label it states that its for acne as well. I swear to you if you use a sulfur based cream for at least 2-3 months twice a day you will not regret it.

  6. First of all, always keep your hair off your face, and wash your face every day and night. There is no cure to acne, but there is a treatment that will tone down your condition. It all depends on what product works best for you. Everyone reacts differently to products. I suggest you try out different pharmacy products until you find one that works out best for you. The most popular product is Proactiv. Good luck!

  7. It's very important to have a daily exfoliating face wash. Wash every morning and night. I highly recommend Boots brand. Their products are made with herbs and all natural ingredients. Also, I use Retin A Micro every night. It's an acne/blackhead medication that must be prescribed by your dermatologist. Look into it I guarantee it will clear up your skin in just weeks. Good luck!

  8. You will hear thousands of tips and treatments, the fact is there is no magical cure for acne or none of us would have to deal with it. An acne treatment that may work for me, may not be effective for you. You will have to find the right product that works for you.

  9. Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.   Here are a few informative links with additional home treatment ideas.

  10. Prepare a juice of lime and groundnut oil. Apply this mixture on and around pimples. You will get good solution for pimples and blackheads. Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne

  11. Man I have the same problem. I mostly hate the blemishes. I can only say to stop picking at them, stay out of the sun if possible, and try a cleaning regimen. My Dr. Recommended Nutrogena products. They are moderately priced and will keep your budget in check. For blemishes I use a skin bleach with SPF.

  12. The cream that I have found works best is Clean and Clear "Persa Gel 10" it worked like an over night miracle for me.

  13. Regimen:

If you have combination skin definatly don't go for proactiv.  Im currently trying this new stuff by negtrogena, it said if proactiv didn't clear you skin then this will help.  Proactiv doesn't work well for combination skin.  Also some 2.5% benzol peroxide will help but start out with a little bit in the beginning then after about 2 weeks add more and more.

    Some tips:

Try steaming your pores open every so often.

Get the blackhead eraser or the wave from neutrogena.

Wash your face twice a day.

Put some toothpaste on problem zits over night, it drys them out.

    Good Luck =]
