  1. dont worry about being bad, if you show devotion and that you really worked hard, they probably put u on the team

  2. just think of a routine or practice the given routine with a friend and have her give tips and video tape u so u can see how u did

  3. i never tried out for any dance teams but my best advice would be to smile and have loads of energy. The coach will be looking for girls that have confidence and energy in addition to basic skiils and coordination.maintain good posture and try to look nice for your audition.  If you have to give a demo dance routine just give it your best and keep going even if you loose your place. Its important to know how to recover if you make a mistake. I danced in theater class and performed for the school. it wasn't too difficult, it just took practice. best of luck to you.

  4. I've found that the best thing you can do is learn to become incredibly aware of your body parts at all times. I'm not saying that you should become absurdly self conscious, but you need to know where you are at all points if you're going to dance without looking stupid. I've tried it both ways, it helps, trust me.

Also, learn some basic ballroom dances online, from family or friends, or in any other way you can think of. If you can, learn some solo dances too.

It's a middle school dance team so I'm assuming that it's a ballroom dance type of thing.

Learn to dance swing. Swing is what I learned from, I'm the whitest guy you'd ever meet and I developed rhythm from learning swing. Spend some time practicing keeping beats to the most uniformly rhythmic music you can find. Once you've got rhythm, the rest kinda comes naturally, it did for me.

The most important thing you need to know is that you can't be self concious while dancing. Just dance, don't care how you look, restraint due to self-doubt is by far the strongest hindering factor in dancing in my experience.

Also, remember, dancing was created because it was fun. It's basically like tapping your foot to music, but scaled up. It's meant to be fun, so have fun.

    Good Luck.
