  1. for a 13 year old girl it is. keep up the good work and ull get faster

  2. I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle bulk and strength not the muscle endurance. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have X amount of runs. And in most cases, you must increase the muscle tolerance to see some sort of improvement. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Good Luck!!!

  3. Maybe you could could run with leg weights. the ones you strap around your ankles. they say that at first it's pretty hard but you become extremly fast, you build more stamina and get stronger legs

  4. Your 400 time isn't too bad for having only run it once.  Just constantly push yourself to run faster and don't reach too far out trying to get longer strides, it is faster and more efficient to have slightly shorter, quicker strides.

  5. thats not bad at all for a beginner   but keep runningg like pretty much every day and try to get it down to mid-60s do sprinting workouts one day and distance workouts the next and so on  but dont just use your legs running uses all different muscles

  6. well  in answer to your 1st question..running the 400 in 74 seconds is about the average time of a JV high school track runner. I am a varsity track runner whose personal record is 61 seconds, and I am about the 5th fastest 400 runner on my team which is very good. So that should give you a good idea about where you are.

Ok...tips for running faster...make sure that when you run you are running on the balls of your feet; not flat-footed becuase you have to work twice as hard to run flat footed, and you want to increase your turnover, which is the number of time your feet hit the ground over a certain distance. Make sure you have a forward lean when you run, and pump your arms!! many people do ont realize that this is the key to runnning faster. When you pump your arms you create more momentum and therefore increase turnover. Try sprinting drills to improve agility and remember that you are only 13 and therefore still growing, so your body will be able to produce more muscle and speed as you get older.

    hope this helped. :)
