  1. Turn off the tv. Prompt her to read more, practice makes perfect. Has she ever been tested to see if she is dislecsic?

  2. Has she been tested for dyslexia?

  3. Give  her the book twilight, and tell her to read the first few pages,

she can stop if she doesnt like it.

But trust me shell love it.

    And also,

Sarah dessen books are awesome for teens,

they talk about everything they like,

    Guys,

    Friends,

    high school,

    all that good stuff.

Take her to the book store, and try any of those.

    (:

    Good luckk!

Shell love twilight, tell her not to be scared of the size.

  4. Get your parents to take her to a library and she can choose some books for herself.

  5. I always find it easier to read something I enjoy. It can be a subject I like, or anything. Introduce her to some of these books that I like, I promise their good:

    The Clique Series

    The Ugly Series

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Series

I really like those. Also find what she likes. I've found my genres - Realistic Fiction and Non Fiction.

I like to read about Marine Life and Real Life. I'm girly, so I like stories about girls that go through stuff. I also really like Marine Life, so that's that. Just find out what she enjoys, what she likes, etc. and then maybe you can go to the library and together find books on her common interests.

  6. You can not MAKE anyone read and you certainly can not MAKE anyone enjoy it.  All I can suggest is to get her books on subject she enjoys.  You can't force anyone to read.  All you can do is show them by example.  How often does she see you or your parents with a book in your hands?

  7. try magizines how i learned to read like teen girl ones they have articles in them

  8. Have her read about something she likes. If she's interested in what she's reading than it will be like a movie in her head and she'll forget about everything else. Have her pick the book out. It's very important for her to read, good luck.

  9. find her books or magazines about things that she is interested in, like  a hobby or sports or music.  Magazines are almost always interesting to kids.  Someone in the family to read with her for a few minutes might peak her interest and help her in areas where she is struggling.  Help her to start a journal, about anything she likes, and her writing in turn will help her reading skills.

  10. I don't think you can make someone enjoy reading you either like it or you don't. She probably hasn't found a book that she really enjoys or that she is interested in, so maybe if she finds a book that she enjoys she will enjoy reading it and through practice she will become better!!!

  11. Find out what subject she likes, or something she likes to do, then try to find a book about it, and maybe she will read it..

    Good luck.

  12. Find out what she likes, and let her read about that!  If she wants comic books, it is reading!  If she wants to read some of those teen magazine's, let her read them!  Anything and everything you can get her to read will improve her reading skills! Even if it is the directions to a game, it is reading!!

  13. im twelve and have always enjoyed reading:)

i suggest getting her narinder dhami books:)

       sunitas seceret,dannis dairy,bindi bades,bollywood babes, bangra babes:)

        www.narinderdhami.com

  14. You can't make a person do something they do not wish to do.

Just back off and let her learn her own way.

  15. They will read if on computer.  Fanfiction.net.  From my 10 - 11 year old daughter and friends.

  16. Has dyslexia been ruled out?  That often makes reading very difficult, if not impossible.  She should be checked out for it, if it hasn't already been ruled out!

  17. why don't you get her some books from the library and YOU read to her? Maybe she will become interested in the story and as some point want to pick up a book on her own.

You could read 2 pages and she could read 1 page....

  18. find out what she is interested in even if it is something like comic books.. my son wouldn't read fiction books for the longest time then I found the childrens star wars series and he couldn't put them down. .. he also like goosebumps.

  19. Some kids just don't like it read but there are some tricks to getting them to read. If they like video games you could get them a video game manual. Or if she likes cooking she could read cooking books. Sometimes its not necessarily what they read but that they are reading. Also if they are into celebrities like Hannah Montana or people like that find out what kind of books they like and try to tell your sister that if they like them she might to. Lastly try reading wit her. If you or your parents read a page then she reads one it might help her. Hope this helps..

  20. Here's the big idea: A student will not ever enjoy reading unless they find a book that interests them. This is a bad situation, and you neeed to find a book she will love. Harry Potter. Twilight. These are some of my favorites and I'm 13. Convince her to try a book. Have her choose one. Hooked on phonics puts an idea in a kid's head that reading is all about boring old school and learning and studying, when it's not at all. Reading tutors do the same. If she has trouble reading, find a book she CAN read alone, without feeling stupid, that she will still enjoy. Once she enjoys reading, a tutor may not be necessary because the more you read the better you get at it. It's a patient process, finding that perfect book. But it's worth it.

  21. Well, she probably hates it so much because she feels she's not good at it and it frustrates her. You can't force anyone to "enjoy" reading, but you certainly can encourage her. My advice would be to get her a library card and let her pick out a couple books she'd like. You can also read with her, taking turns, or just to her to begin with. If she has any favorite movies, see if they come in book form. My kids have also always loved to go to the bookstore and choose a brad new book, so if you can afford to that might be fun for her. Let her choose books on her reading level, even if they are really simple like Dr. Seuss, who I still love and I'm 39! When a child can read a book with more ease, it's a boost to their self esteem and gradually they can work up to harder levels. Make sure she knows you support her and will help her, not make fun of her and that may help.

  22. I'm assuming you've already explored the possibility of a learning problem. So, I'll skip that.

Manga!  There are ton's of asian comics for girls. They get hooked on them. You can buy them or find them at many public libraries. She might like to read something she doesn't think of as reading.

Maybe you could give her a reason to read.

Have her get a pen pal.

Teach her to cook. Then she'll have to read the recipes.

Find something she's interested in and then sneak reading into it. Like if she wants to play soccer, have her read the rules then quiz her on it.

Maybe teach her to play scrabble. She'll learn that way for sure.

Either way trying to shove it down her throat isn't the way to get her to 'enjoy' reading. Some people can't stand to sit still and stare at a page for any length of time.

Just make sure she's literate and keep trying to help her find something she's interested in reading. It might work out the way you want or it might not. You can't make people like anything, but you can make them hate it if you force it on them.

    Good luck.

  23. You can't make someone enjoy something they don't like. That would have been like my parents forcefeeding me peas in an attempt to like peas.  It would never have worked.

All you can really do is support her, and maybe take her to Barnes & Noble to help her find some books on things she likes--mysteries, horses, etc.
