The things in the yard I guess there is to work with are a lot of open land, lights posts, woods (which I'm not going in) road, tire swing things like that. I'm in North Carolina and I have my 4 month old black and white, longer hair, blue/brown eyed husky with me.

  1. All of your ideas are great... I would recommend going to a park with a river if she likes water.  One thing that I love about my dog (she is part husky and has the husky face) are pictures of her taken in the dark at night - when they are in the dark the features of her face really stand out and the rest of her kind of blends in, you might try capturing some night shots.  When I try to shoot photos of her I have the most success playing off of her energy, geting her excited and running around so that she does her cute things and poses for me.

  2. Don't do it in the morning or afternoon. Wait until late afternoon (right about sunset or twilight) to get the best light. Morning/afternoon light is too white and too harsh. Sunsets often give off a warm light which I would think would be better.

You don't want the background to be too busy or it will be distracting. A simple concrete/brick wall would be fine. I would even suggest a black background to make their beautiful blue eyes stand out :-)

You could also sit in the grass and have the camera look down on you and use the grass as the "background".
