  1. Jean Monnet is thought to be the father of the EU to try and keep Europe out of another war, to a create bigger trading block and a stronger currency to compete with the dollar. Read, The Late Great USA; The coming merger between Mexico and Canada by Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D, it starts with an explanation of how and when the EU was created.

  2. The european parliament has so little real power it is pitiful. It can be overuled by the council of ministers.

It is the unelected commissioners who propose and frame legislation which is then debated by the parliament and council.

If the council, 1 member from each country, are unanimous then there is nothing the elected parliament can do about it.

The country of origin principle is simply  that services must comply with the law of the country the services are provided from.

This could open the door for example to hard core p**n that is legal in one country being beamed into countries where it was illegal.

The country of reception principal is that all services must comply with the law of the country they are being provided in.

It is extrememly hard to be positive about anything emanting from the EU which is, despite the appearance, totally undemocratic and which is demonstably one of the most corrupt institutions in the world.

Note that the two most successful european economies are those of Switzerland and Norway neither of whom are members of the EU. hmmm......
