Does anyone have experiance in Americorps?

I am thinking of joining at the end of my Senior year, and I want a to know the details from a members first hand experiance.

Americorps has several different programs and if  you call the local chapter in your area I am sure that they will let you talk to alumni. I particpated in americorps program called city year. city year is a made up of 18-24 year olds who committ 10 months to service. there are about 18 sites through out the united states. most sites focus on mentoring, tutoring or physcail service projects. however, some sites have additional programs that they run. the website is www.cityyear.org. i found the expereince to be very rewarding and i learned many things. i was exposed to different cultures, which is always intersting. if you would like further information , feel free to send me a message on here. :)

The Americorp kids where wonderful assets to the community after Hurricane Katrina, also during Tropical Storm Ernesto.  I am with American Red cross, they worked side by side with us.  I truly admired all of them.
