I have got one small group lesson and I learned a lot. I am going to a beach house for a week and I am planning on getting lessons again and if I am good enough I am going to rent a board for a few days to get even better. Any tips or sugesstions when I am out there in the water? Safety tips?

  1. get out and surf. good days, bad days whatever. nothing works like work.

  2. have fun and dont cut people off

  3. Do Not Surf Solo, other surfers in the water are good enough even if you dont know them. Generally they will assist you if needed.

Hire/Buy the correct board. If your a newbie dont buy a kelly style thruster. Go for a minimal or longboard.

Do not paddle out in waves you cannot handle, if in doubt do not go out.

Dont paddle out through the impact zone thus becoming a big obstacle for others surfers. Watch where more experienced surfers enter/exit the water and do the same.

Keep your board under control as much as possible, Do Not just abandon it at the first sign of trouble.

Have fun and Do Not drop in, always look down the wave before you go.

  4. therer r so many freaks on yahoo answers...d**n

  5. wear your leash

Mind the other people out there

    DO NOT SURF ALONE

Be patient out there. let the waves come to you

    Don't be a wave hog

Try not to s***w up other peoples rides

Be friendly with the guys out there

    Stay safe

A good wet suit goes a long way

Bring snacks to eat in between sets, Peanuts, granola bars Trail mix. they all work. also bring a large container to water to drink.

    Just have fun man! =D
