The volleyball coach just posted the final team and I am the only freshman and one of the only new people on the team and everyone is really good and quite a bit better than me. The first practice was today and I was okay but I want to get better so that I won't just be learning from my mistakes. I'll also be learning from what i'm doing right and I'll be able to perfect it. So does anyone have any good tips for me because if I'm a little better then I won't be intimidated by all the other girls whom are sooo good, and then I'll play better and won't be thinking about everything I'm doing and like overanalyzing.

SOON PLEASE!!!!!

  1. practice by yourself up against a wall or up in the air.   I used to go to camps and everything and we used to have to see how many times we could bump the ball in a period of so much time without dropping it or having to chase after it.  if the ball fell we would have to start over again.

For setting, I used to practice against a wall with a basketball, it was a little heavier and helped me strengthen my arms.  Also we had a drill where we would throw the ball up and try to set it into the basket from the free throw line.

If any of the girls on your team live close and you're get to be good friends with them, have one of them come over and practice, one of my good friends would come over and we would do the "bump, set, spike" to each other,  she would bump it to me, i would set it back to her and she would spike it down to me and I would have to try to get up under the ball, and then switch.

I also used to practice my spiking by running up to my door and trying to hit the molding above my door, i was short and it felt to be about the right height.  not sure if it ever actually was though, just to get my timing down with my jumping and where my arms should be.
